The only time I find I really need a sling is when dragging a deer out of the woods. It makes it sooo much easier than putting my rifle down drag a ways then go back and get my rifle, then repeat. Any other time I'm usually carrying my rifle. Those slip on slings are great in that way. On when needed , in a pocket or shooting bag when not. :thumbsup:
 
There are place around here so steep and slick, you need two hands, long toenails and a monkey tail to climb or come down. Fangs wouldn't hurt either. Dandy to sling a rifle for a few minutes when the going gets tough, too.

I have a slip on sling from cabelas that I like alot.Great for getting my invest arm 50 cal in my treestand.
