No hurry bud . Whenever you get a chance .I always have withdraw syndrome when one leaves the nest.I'll try. Just me, the cat, and a cellphone right now. I'll try in a day or so.

Man that must have been some bad pizza. I didn't know such a thing existed.Hiking alone up Mt. Marcy in NY’s Adirondacks High Peaks 35 years back. Dead of winter, 4 feet snow, tried to camp on narrow patch just off trail. Lost my nerve, hiked back to car, headed into Lake Placid, ordered a pizza and started 5 hour drive home. You’d think after almost 2 days on a mountain any pizza would be great? I ate a bite and tossed it out the window in horror. Coming from NJ we have some pretty great pizza.

What in hell would make you want to be on Mt Marcy in the middle of winter! I'm 2 hours away from there, in NYS, and I've never wanted to go during the summer. Winter on that mountain is deadly.Hiking alone up Mt. Marcy in NY’s Adirondacks High Peaks 35 years back. Dead of winter, 4 feet snow, tried to camp on narrow patch just off trail. Winter hiking and camping has its own rewards. I haven't hiked in the Adirondacks in the Winter, but I have hiked in the Blueridge Mountains and the Dolly Sods in West Virginia in the dead of Winter many times (long ago). What in hell would make you want to be on Mt Marcy in the middle of winter! you had a bed in the military, lucky guy. Must have spent a lot of time in the rear with the gear.If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Spent most of my life sleeping with a gun. It's a military thang
West Virginia in the dead of winter is a whole different world from the top of My Marcy.Winter hiking and camping has its own rewards. The solitude and quiet was wonderful. The naked trees punctuated by clusters of pines and Hemlocks here and there had its own stark beauty. Going from frigid night air into a down sleeping bag gave a sense of cozy security. Freeze dried food never tasted so good. I lost several pounds just from hiking up and down mountains and keeping warm.
Good point.West Virginia in the dead of winter is a whole different world from the top of My Marcy.
