Yeah, I 'll look around as it couldn't be more contaminated than this stuff was.
Prior I'd melted some odd caliber balls I had laying about...now that was clean and threw perfectly round shiny balls.
This 99.9% 'pure' not so nice.
I noted some bluish discoloration which is, I suspect, an alloy in there too.
Not happy with RMetals.

You get that blue color when dealing with pure lead.

Yep, the blue color means you have pretty much pure lead. Show us some pictures of your dross, could be a lot of that is lead and could be re-heated and cleaned again. If your a newby on melting lead you could be throwing out lead instead of trash. Also you need to bring the temp. of the lead to at least 700 to 750 degrees.

Great information guys. Thank you one and all.

I went to Sportsmans warehouse yesterday and found a smaller Lee melting pot. It will melt 4 lbs of lead in like 10 minutes according to the box. Only cost me $40.

Now I just need the lead, and I won't be able to get it from where my wife tells me I have plenty. I'm using that for holding me to the chair. :rotf:

I'll cool it down some and then try again...I am a newbie at this.
I just noticed a dif between the old balls I melted and this lead bar batch as to the amount of dross.

On the Lee Pot put the Temp. dial halfway between 7 and 8, its the Temp. that works best for me, I just cast about 180 .395 Rbs. at that Temperature.
