I had a feeling this would turn into a good or bad discussion, and personally it does not matter to me.

Fair market value, to a friend is all I am interested in.
Heheh, and we have reached a conclusion on that between him and me already if he can figure out how to accept the cash online.

Now, as far as shooting better, built better, more whatever....….. eh.... I think that would depend on the individual, the day, the barometric pressure, the moon position, etc.... I think we all get that.

I do know that I can hit figure 8's one day at 25 yards with almost anything I pick up, and be all over the board the next, but the fun is in the trying right?
This has all been interesting, and once again I thank all that have posted opinions!

I put Ruger OA's in the Modern BP Category right there with in-lines. Surprised with all the rules on this forum that ROA's are allowed to be discussed.

So what's the best tactical flashlight for a ROA?

Thanks drobs,
LMAO, I know why, and appreciate your attention to detail.

Unfortunately, that is "da rules", and they must be followed.
At least I was not asking about a "conversion" for it.....
I just wanted to ask a question or two about it and to not cheat my friend ...… now, if I "find" my gg grandfather Henry Revel's "Henry" that my great aunt Belle still had...…. That would be a whole nuther thing..... Heheheh...

I do like the "purity" here, but hope it does not scare others away.
There is so much experience and knowledge to be shared, it would be a shame to have it not be heard by the guys that are just beginning to learn, such as myself.
:thumbs up:

Just a general complaint of mine. Enjoy your new gun and post pics.
Will see if we can find some laser grips for it...

Maybe wwho ever ownes this ROA race gun is a fellon and cant legally own a modern cartritge gun. There built as good as a ruger super black hawk except bp only

Not sure how being made of better steel and with better springs, and not having grossly undersized chambers changes this.
What a boring, mundane world this would be if we all agreed on the same gun type. I like em all personally! There are as many different kinds of guns as there are applications for their use, which is a wonderful circumstance, in my view.

Interesting point of view there. Yer opinion and yer entitled to it. Personally, I believe the ROA looks enuf like some of the original C&B revolvers that it's OK in this world.

Well, the deed is done, and I should have it by Saturday or Monday.
He also has Patriot I am considering.... (does it ever end?!!!)

Couple of pictures he sent me for your appraisal / approval!
Looks pretty clean to me, other than some dust, and was made in 1973 / 1974 from what I can determine.

Heheh, I just got it for $400, and to answer the questions...…
I have that, I have 3 Pietta's, and, he is a friend, and I take care of my friends when I can, as I can! ;)
I am just that kinda guy?
Sounds like a square deal for you both.
Congratulations!

I love the brass trigger guard!

To be honest, I knew little to literally nothing about these, and I am finding out that the brass trigger guard is somewhat of an oddity, and highly in demand with these if it is original to the gun from the factory.
Thanks for pointing that out to me!

I just may owe my friend a little more cash after I get it and see if the numbers match on it for having the brass originally from the factory.

Another thing I have learned, is the earlier models, in 1972, could have a flat top sight and brass.
Those command quite a bit more and are being highly sought after still today.

For this particular gun Ruger is top shelf, then Uberti and a distant third is Pietta.

Thanks for the input torpedo,...
That makes me even more excited to get it so I can compare the quality of each them.

Also, I think I did my friend right on the purchase price.
I sent him a little more than the agreed upon $400.00 today, so I feel good about it.
I saw one with a box, brass, manuals, and instructions that sold 2 years ago for $450, so I am happy, and so is he...

Also, if anyone is interested, Ruger has made a very small run of these again recently (2018), and they sold out quickly.
Blued only with no brass for $924.00
Not sure if they will be doing it again, but I did find it interesting that there was a big enough demand that they did that.
