Ruger old army questions?

After seeing the picture, it looks like some one put the brass old model SBH Dragoon frame on the ROA. Looks great! Even better than the Dragoon grip frame of the SBH is the Bisley grip frame. I have one on a .45 Colt Blackhawk and its better than the stock frame. I wish I still had the ROA, I think that would make a great shooter. The Bisley frame manages the recoil better.
I’m of a similar mind, I’ve got size xxl hands with size 13 ring fingers and the Bisley really is best for me. But the SBH works well for lighter recoiling arms like the ROA.

If the op will send a request to Ruger they can tell him if that brass frame is the original issue.

Already sent in the request..... see my last post.
I have also called them, and they say it is more than likely originally brass, but could not confirm over the phone for some ($10.00 hehe) reason.
;) It’s the American way! Well worth knowing though, collectors like that kind of stuff...

Raising
Let me know if you intend to get the Patriot. I have one in unfired condition in 45. Would love another one. What I am saying is putting my name in the hat now.

I can get it in a heartbeat, ok, maybe take a little longer than that, but if you are interested message me here and we can work it out somehow.
I am just not that into handguns, and would love to see someone enjoy this one.

Thanks for the input torpedo,...
That makes me even more excited to get it so I can compare the quality of each them.

Also, I think I did my friend right on the purchase price.
I sent him a little more than the agreed upon $400.00 today, so I feel good about it.
I saw one with a box, brass, manuals, and instructions that sold 2 years ago for $450, so I am happy, and so is he...

Also, if anyone is interested, Ruger has made a very small run of these again recently (2018), and they sold out quickly.
Blued only with no brass for $924.00
Not sure if they will be doing it again, but I did find it interesting that there was a big enough demand that they did that.

For very small run, read minute run, and for just one gun store. The word is out that they are never going to do this again. Needless to say, the Ruger Old Army remains far and away THE most-popular C&B revolver of the modern era EVER made. All Ruger did by stopping production back in 2008 was to shoot themselves in the foot. Over here in yUK they are changing hands at North of a $1000 in some dealerships.

Found this on the Ruger Forum...."Ruger did make some Old Army's with brass super blackhawk dragoon style gripframes. They generally had wide smooth triggers and if you look under the grips it should have the letters/numbers MR3-BD cast near the bottom of the grip frame on the interior webbing. These grip frames were also sold as an accessory so there is the chance that it was added to the gun later."..............There is some question as to whether the trigger was wide smooth or serrated and thin.............http://rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=114237

Railshot
I am interested but I am retired and income is a little short, however I did get my last Patriot at a gun show with holster for $150.00 That was a good price. I have too many handguns and need to get rid of some anyway. Find out what your friend is needed and what he is looking for. I have several firearms I can trade or if the price is right it will be cash. Please keep in touch.

Hey Desperate Lee,
You did get quite the buy on your last Patriot.

This one I think he is going to be looking in the $450 to $500 range for.
He offered it to me for less, but if I tell him it is for someone else, the price will go up I am sure.

Yeah I did get a good deal. Just a thought. Would be nice to find a Hawken pistol in 50 cal to pair with my Hawken 50 cal rifle. I know what the Patriot is worth, that's why I have not fired this one yet. Always looking for a deal though. Don't have any personal friends into BP. All the friends I have into BP are on these forums.

Heheh, I know what you mean Desperate Lee,..... all of my friends and relatives look at me in a strange way when I get excited about anything black powder....
I always was the "black sheep" of the family, so eh, nothing new there.

Yep. I got into this in the 70's. built a TC Hawken from a kit my wife gave for Christmas. Took a year to finish it. Damn it looks good. So good I put in the cabinet for 10 years. Mostly because I didn't want mess up the finish and firing a 50 cal bothered me. So I bought an inline 50 and from there I was lost forever as my wife says. From there it escalated. 6 Colts, 3 Rem NMA, the Patriot, a couple of 45 single shot CVA's, and one lonely 50 cal TC Scout pistol I am working on. My plate is full. Spend most time now taking care of the wife. Would love a Trapper in 50 cal to go with the Hawken. I don't know I get a. If and just go for it you know.
