FYI Most cowboy action shooters who the black powder matches prefer Pietta over Uberti.

Isn’t that more due to the cheaper cost? The match shooters aren’t choosing those, though maybe someone is using the Shooter’s Model. I’ve heard they are a much better gun than any of their more standard models.

For this particular gun Ruger is top shelf, then Uberti and a distant third is Pietta.
May be but my worked over Pietta will out shoot my 200th Anniversary ROA any day of the week. Pietta's need some work from the factory to get the best out of them but every thing is there to make them really shoot well with some tweaking.

Had my ROA out just this weekend. Forgot how much I enjoy shooting it. Using my own lubed wads and my cast balls I was getting very nice groups. Wouldn't mind having a blued one, too. You did good with yours, I hope. You will have to wait until you get it, then tear it apart and see what condition it's in. Have fun.

Is the ROA and the Ruger Super Blackhawk the same frame size. And if so wont the trigger guards work on either guns.

I put a new model Super Blackhawk grip frame on a ROA but you have to make a filler block to fit behind the trigger in the cut in the guard. A hole is then drilled in the block to hold the trigger return spring. It's doable with hand tools.

Picked the Ruger up from the P.O. this morning.
Literally never fired, but a bit dusty!
I am already thinking I may want to do some "horse trading" for this one, but in the meantime I will clean her up a bit.

A few pictures...….

Let me know if you decide to trade it
Thanks. 8 BORE

I sure will 8 BORE.
I am not much of a handgun guy to begin with, and have 3 already (all those unfired also heheh).

I am still looking for a Hatfield in case anyone has one. ;)

In the meantime, this is a very nicely built handgun.
I can see why people would love them.

No Hatfielfds. Have several sxs shotguns. And left hand rifles. Nothin' fancy mostly T/C

That’s true. They can be made to work. Midway also sells the SBH grip frame for those with larger hands.

I just spent some quality time with the Ruger, and it cleans up pretty nicely!
A little 3-in-1 on a rag, took the cylinder out and wiped it, (already clean as a whistle / like new, but I like to keep things that way), lubed the mechanics lightly, and you know what.... I did good.

My friend is happy, I am happy, and now he wants me to take his Patriot!!!
Heheh, not my speed but I just may do that.

Looks pretty nice in the cabinet with the other 3.

After seeing the picture, it looks like some one put the brass old model SBH Dragoon frame on the ROA. Looks great! Even better than the Dragoon grip frame of the SBH is the Bisley grip frame. I have one on a .45 Colt Blackhawk and its better than the stock frame. I wish I still had the ROA, I think that would make a great shooter. The Bisley frame manages the recoil better.

What a boring, mundane world this would be if we all agreed on the same gun type. I like em all personally! There are as many different kinds of guns as there are applications for their use, which is a wonderful circumstance, in my view.

I agree!
I have 1911's, an M1 Garand, #4Mk.II, asstd revolvers in various calibers, and others. The T.C. Hawken and Ruger Old Army
dolls up the collection a bit though.

The early models had the brass grip frame from the factory.

Waiting on my letter from Ruger to have proof it was a factory brass grip frame.... well worth the $10 to know either way.

Pretty sure it is, as the gentleman I bought it from is not into modifying anything, and has quite the collection of rare firearms!
LOL, he even got "mad" at me when I told him I polished all the brass (which I did not)….. heheh, I just like to get under his skin every once in awhile. ;)
