:hmm: Just a note that motor oil has wax in it. Should note be used for firearms due to the wax.

The wax would not be a problem on the outside of the firearm but I agree that it would be better left outside and not be used in the bore as a patch or bullet lube. I am of the opinion that if a person wants to use motor oil on the outside of their gun, in the lock, or even in the bore as a rust preventive (only) it would do no harm. I admit that I use a petroleum product, 3 in 1, etc., to protect my bore but I thoroughly wipe all traces of it out of the bore before shooting my gun. But, in the bore as a patch or bullet lube it can cause an undesirable mess. However, I know that there are folks who will say that they use petroleum based products in their bore as bullet or patch lubes and never have a problem. Well, that's kind of like the guy who kissed the pig....to each his own. :haha:

I'd take that test with a big grain of salt.....also my favorite preventative gun treatment wasn't on the list....G96

Check again, Clyde, G96 was included in the test and came in about in the middle of the pack.
The product they tested was G96 synthetic Milspec CLP...This is not the product I was referring to..
I was referring to G96 gun treatment. Two completely different animals.... Like I said Take it wit a lot of salt....

Oops, you are right. My bad. 'Scuse me.

Never put much stock in the testing of gun oils, etc. My guns are not stored outside in the elements.

Worked overseas for many years. Never saw my guns for periods as long as three years at a time. None of my guns ever rusted.

i use Militec 1 and gun grease.
