Just got back from the range (great time as always). Well on one of my shots I felt my face get peppered by what I assumed was blow back from my cap. Felt like being sandblasted. Glad I was wearing my shooting glasses. This was the first time this has happened. Looking back I believe a Cap was stuck in my hammer and when I fired the hammer's lip couldn't cover the Cap and thus the blow back (maybe not the right term?). Just thought I'd share this .. draw your own conclusions. Thanks

I have also had this happen a few times with a zouave rifle using musket caps, the next tin of caps dosent seem to do it.Now i wear safty glasses when range shooting, its not worth losing an eye.

I gave my shooting glasses a good cleaning last week and noticed they are all pitted from powder/cap blast.
I wouldn't shoot with out them.

Safety glasses and hearing protection should be a 1st priority for all of us.Be safe gents and enjoy yourselves.

I got a nice tee shirt from Marlin that I wear shooting a lot and it's off white. You wouldn't believe the peppered marks it gets on it. I absolutely wear safety glasses. I made the transition to old fart a while back and have to wear glass though, so it's easier for me to remember them now. All of my glasses are safety glasses. I wear safety glasses to church!

Ive never worn saftey glasses to church, have thought of hiding on the back row in a ghillie suit, then no won would know i was there.
