On the contrary, the rifling will ruin the shot pattern. The spinning shot will spread, immediately upon leaving the barrel, well beyond any reasonable pattern.
 
I have a 36" Navy Arms barrel in .45 Cal. It has VERY SHALLOW rifling. I was wondering if that might work out ok because of the super shallow rifling?
