I shot a pack rat in the house with a 22 short in a #4 remingtion. He was looking at 2 cats and didn't see me put the muzzle about 2" from his head. I pulled the trigger and he took off, no blood and no hole in the wall. The next day I saw him and he had one eye pink and the other blue. The cats stayed away from him. Finaly got him in a rat trap using choclet for bait.

I guess you have tough rats up there in Toledo.

I don't know about the rats in Toledo, the one I was talking about was in the mountains of Idaho.

I've got a tool shed out back it's about 8x12 ft with about 20 years of collective farm equipment . Anyway for about six months a pack rat turned that shed upside down my son and I used sheridan pellet guns on him but to no avail . he dragged in cactus small bones leaves and who knows what else , finally one day I cornered that rat with a 6 horse power shop vac . Now the table turned I caught him comin out of a kennedy tool box that had one drawer missing , sucked him right into the nozzle . when he got to the first corner the motor labored as the suction built up then foop on he went until the next tight spot in the hose then foop on he went til he finally got to the tank . I figured I'd leave him in there inside with all that turbulence for a few minutes while I vacumed up some of his mess . I didn't figure he'd like it in there , but when I opened it up there he was just as happy as he could be so I put that sheridan above his head and pop . one less pac rat . The next time I go squirrel huntin I'll get me a 50 ft hose lol

There was a story a while back about taking care of grond hogs the same way using and old septic tank truck which uses vacume to clean septic tanks.

Back to the topic at hand... :winking:

I shot my first Eastern Washigton rattler with my Rodgers & Spencer .45 and 20gr of fffg, wonder wad, #7 1/2 shot and another wonder wad. Distance was about 6ft and he was hit by about 6 pellets if I remember right.
