That's what I call access! Nice job! What's the copper attachment on the side? Grab handle? I see the crossed rifles, you infantry? The more I look at this, the more I see. Are those sides hand planed? You built that box, right? It looks hand built.
Infantry yes! 82nd Airborne.

Did I make the box? No! Wanted a range box and thought about those old antique sewing boxes the ladies used back in the day. This one was hand built back in the 40’s. I did add the knobs, handles, and brass hardware though! Also made the wooden( Gun/Short starter ) holder and attached it to the box. Have a small portable folding table I sit the box on when I’m shooting at the range.

Definitely a range only box! I do take it with me on primitive camp trips and shoots but stays back in my tent. Holds anything and everything I’m gonna need for the duration.

Oh! the brass hook is for my wrag to wipe my hands off with!! 😄

Respectfully, Cowboy

Thanks for your service brother!

3 pounds of powder, 2 pistols. How much you think it will weigh loaded up? Very nice of course. Very intricate, smooth cuts with nice lines. You are doing well.

I use three G.I. .50 calibre ammo cans for my range boxes, one each for .45, .50 and .69. Each one has everything that I will need for a day's worth of shooting. I take my shooting bag and powder horn and my range rod and out the door I go.
Then there is the 1853 Enfield carbine. For that, I will measure out the powder charge and fill a plastic tube, inserting the minie inverted and lubed. I will take as many as I might need and grab another ammo can will the neccessary items, like musket caps.

I think once the range box gets to the point where it's just not practical to move, it becomes the shop box and the possibles bag and horn come back out!
Lol.

As I get closer to finishing up my first flint pistol kit build, I'm thinking about a loading stand and box combo. Since mine is a Kentuycky style pistol, the stock is curved, and on other threads about loading stands, I've come to appreciate that the mechanics of an appropriate loading stand will need to incorporate the unique curvature of each pistol stock in order to maximally protect it during loading. And now that I see these very nice range boxes, I'm even more inclined to take on such a project!

Thanks for sharing guys. This thread has been really fun to watch!
