Even if it shot great?Just one man's stance, but if I had a pitted bore, I'd replace it. I think more of my muzzleloaders than I do my unmentionables. Every man must decide for himself.

So it’s safe to assume any barrel or gun you sell or trade off is a poor shooter, good to know.Even if it shot great?
Yep, pretty much, if I cannot get it to shoot, down the road it goes.So it’s safe to assume any barrel or gun you sell or trade off is a poor shooter, good to know.
From my own observations, folks sell both great and poor shooting guns and barrels, at least with them working the trigger, all the time. People sell and trade for all sorts of reasons.
well when you decide to put a new barrel on that gun let me know what you want to send me the bad barrel I need one for a projectThat’s the plan if Traditions can get me a part number. A custom barrel would cost as much as I paid for this rifle, so I am hoping Traditions can supply a part number for a replacement. They do not make the gun or carry many spare parts
So we will so how it plays out.
If this was an older rifle with history I would live with it. However it is not. It is a rifle that was delivered to me in June. So not even a year old yet. To me that’s not character or wear or life. It is neglect and inexperience.
I know what happened, I was too inexperienced or dumb to catch it when the rifle was new/delivered. Oh well, mistake made and we must move on.

Doesn't happen very often and I like tinkering with them and when I figure out what it takes and get good accuracy they go in the gun safe and off to the next problem child, there are some that I finally give up on and then it's time to see if someone else has better luck.
The safe is pretty full, but then I think I have been accused of being a hoarder, so there is that.
Edit.....and let me add that I have seen shooters in other disciplines switch out barrels only to find the new barrel either shot the same or actually shot worse, everyone of them is different.
