I'm thinking of ordering a fowler from Sitting Fox. Has anybody dealt with them?

get good wood I got a jaeger once with a lot of sap wood had to get a stock from another maker to do the gun wood was a throw a way pc

I got a primo piece of CM from Sitting Fox. One of the nicest I've seen. Just make a point of asking for the best wood he's got. Some of the lower-end walnut is real crumbly. But that's a problem with a lot of walnut these days.

I bought a Jaeger from them, the wood was 1st class, very high quality gun and it shoots great.

when I order a kit and say good wood and they send a piece with sap wood in the comb and some pithy rotten wood in it it will be the last I will ever order from them and we do 2 guns a month

May want to look at TVM: http://www.avsia.com/tvm/fowler.htm . Everyone talks highly of TVM. They offer a good looking fowler at a lower cost than Sitting Fox, since Sitting Fox raised their prices a while back. TVM offers their fowler in steel for $1000 and brass for $1050, compared to Sitting Fox Colonial Fowler for $1099.

In other words, you never gave them a chance to make it right.

I dealt with them about a year ago communication was awful. for the price the kit was good but still waiting for a ram rod pipe that was missing.
