I agree Roundball, that's why I posed the question.
My .40 smoothie "Ole Wormy" just doesn't make sense as to why She shoots so well. It's not me, others have shot her just as well{although she whinned for a week that someone else fondeled her!}. I've had smoothies from .32 to .80, most shot well, others went to re-enactors{not a slam,I have a lot of respect those guy's,those that bought my firearms said they would rather have a correct gun than an accurate one, and I always thank them for the compliment } So I guess my next question is "What smooth gun do you have that shoots so well that it doesn't make sense"? :thanks:

I recently got a GM .54cal Flint smoothbore barrel that shoots like a rifled barrel with 70grns Goex 3F...a ragged hole at 30yds, and some holes touching/cloverleafs at 50yds...outstanding with that relatively mild load.

But anything above that...80, 90, 100grns of 2F or 3F...and I always get at least one flyer in every 5 shot group, 6" away from the rest, sometimes two.

Don't know about that. Guarrenttted I can shoot over 300 yds. all day and get consistant 1 shot groups from my .75. Yup, guarentteed! Now finding them is a different story though.

Shot my .54 rebored to .626 again yesterday and while I didn't get under 3 inches at 100 like last time (there was some wind this time)I didn't have any trouble staying within 6 Inches offhand.
I think this qualifys as "shoots so well as to not make sense" and it patterns well with shot to about 25-30 yds. I like it!

Hey,
Yeah, Ive noticed! I shoot a .54 smoothbore and I'll tell you what, I shoot circles around most of my club members shooting bigger guns. Trouble is, one guy shoots a .40 smoothbore and on a good day he'll smoke everyone.
