Explosive license for BP.

Call one of the distributors that ships powder and speak with them. They will want a "letter of intent", and possibly a copy of your ID to prove your age. You pay for the powder plus hazmat, and UPS delivers it to your door. IIRC, BATF limits 50# to an individual.

License? License? You don't need no stinkin' license. All you need is the money to pay for the powder, the shipping and the hazmat fee. You can order and store up to 50 lb. That's as far as the feds are concerned. You need to find out if there are any local laws (city or county) that would limit you to less than 50 pounds. But you don't need no stinkin' license.

Ok, excess and Bill, I had always read that BP was considered an extreme explosive just like dynamite or any other bomb. As the matter of fact, that is why, as I have mentioned before, many of our members always buy from one of the guys in our club.....because the others don't have...whatever it is you need...to order the powder. Shoot, :), many, if not most, of the shipping places in my area will not even ship a barrel much less BP. I know this because just to ship my old Traditions Pennsylvania barrel, I had to go to one place to have it wrapped up good. Then, I had to go to another place to have it inspected and shipped and that is just a simple barrel that was extremely obvious was not loaded or workable at all.

And, it would take me a very long time to use 50# of BP. Just 5# will last me 6 months. If I could shoot 50# in a short of amount of time...I would but I have explained that already.

That's odd. when I've sent muzzleloaders through the years, I wrap the things up and drop them off at the pharmacy who is the UPS pickup point in Smithville...even sent a couple through the USPS. Been a couple years and things may have changed. But then folks around here know I'm harmless! :rotf:

Wes, sounds like I need to move to your county, once my wife retires, as Brazoria County (the one I live in) sounds like it is way out of whack with the rest of the country.

Don't know how out of whack it is now. Things were pretty good once upon a time. Course now when I go by the old homestead north of Alvin, it's all locked gates and trailer parks...they're messing up some top notch dove and quail hunting!

Well, I am baaaaack!

Ok, I got my messed up Traditions barrel back from Robert Hoyt today and it is a little scratched up but I can work things out. He bored it out from a .50 caliber to a .54 caliber so it must not have been that bad.

It looks like he did a good, straight job boring it but it is a pretty rough bore. So, how can I smooth it out a bit? Or just shoot it rough as it is? It will definitely tear up patches as it is now.

I am looking forward to shooting it! :)

Lap it with a few strokes of jeweler's rouge and start shooting...
