The folks in Washington, the man in the pulpit, and the elitest snobs all want to pass judgment on folks, and shove their views down eveyone's throat.

Why can't folks just worry about what they are doing, and let the other man worry about himself. Must we begrudge him his pleasure, and a few pounds of meat for the family table?

What the hell are you talking about? Nobody is talking about hunting, we're discussing a stainless steel muzzleloader. Nobody cares what you do when you're not here.

How you can turn a discussion about a stainless steel gun into how you are being "begrudge" putting food on your table is mind bending.

It's a traditional muzzleloading forum for the discussion of traditional firearms and related gear and clothing and history. It is a simple concept. It isn't or at least it shouldn't be a place for justifying the use of in-lines and plastic stocks and other such paraphenalia. I don't really care what someone uses to hunt with, but if it doesn't fit the parameters of a forum then the person should find a forum where it does fit. There certainly are enough of them on the net.

Switch it around. A poster with a custom made long rifle or Hawken starts posting on a modern muzzleloading forum. Chances are that he is not going to fit in very well nor is he going to get much help from the people on that forum. He is posting in the wrong place.

Regarding Your having killed, cooked, and eaten an animal on the spot: your merit badge is in the mail and you may may henceforth refer to yourself as God of All Things Woodsy and Glorious. Unless of course the animal you ate on the spot was a deer or bear. In which case you are guilty of overeating and must return the merit badge as soon as it arrives. You may however revel in your new title: Great and Magnificent Glutton of Forest and Plain. Either way, you really are something special! :blah:

That's where you're mistaken. Most modern muzzleloader forums have a large & popular traditional section. That's because most avid modern muzzleloader fans also love traditional guns. They just like shooting & hunting with anything that goes bang. They are having fun. They don't begrudged others having fun.

If you are going to hate something, at least take the time to understand & learn about what you hate. Knowledge is a good thing.

For gosh sake, the name of this forum and the it's subtitle says "Keeping Tradition Alive". What the heck are you guys arguing about. When will a moderator or what ever lock this thread. It is senseless drivel. Someone said that some other site they can discuss this stuff. Then GO THERE! Please!

I fully support "Keeping Tradition Alive."

I have been doing just that since 1978.

When will everyone else stop the senseless drivel?

We must all keep in mind that our members have varying reasons for shooting black powder. Some are Reenactors, who are very concerned about the authentic look of their gear and some don't give a hoot about history, they just want to shoot muzzleloaders, and we have everyone in between. All viewpoints are valid.

Since this Forum is not a strict, historically accurate only, for Reenactors only forum, we must tolerate each other. Please keep in mind, we are only talking about firearms here, we are not reenacting. We're here to share information, not judge anyone. It's not a contest.

Calling people PC Nazis, elitists, or snobs, because they desire to be historically accurate is not helpful and it benefits no one.

Insisting that everyone be historically accurate and looking down on them if they are not, is not helpful and it benefits no one.

We do, however, need to discus the historical accuracy of some things, so if that is something that bothers you, please do not join in those discussions.

Until such time that the rules are rewritten to narrow the scope of what we talk about, please try to get along. The only time I think about rewriting or enforcing the rules is when things seem to not be working well. Please try to make this work for everyone.

Also, please remember that when the discussions become personal, you have crossed the line and you need to continue your discussion in private. If that is impossible for some of you, please let me know and I'll help you out.
