Yep, save 5 seconds. I prefer to use my neck knife. Especially after I switched to water stones. Be careful of your finger tips though! If you patches turn red, there is a root cause.

We really need to start a new thread on the obvious advantages of the Hexagonal patch. LOL Some might get all kinds of bent out of shape.

But what about the fringe on the patch edges? Doesn't anybody even care about the fringe on the patch edges???

Square patches for me....guns can't tell the difference in my opinion.
I can cut 100's per hour and do so several times a year:

I've tried that method, and it's OK, but don't try and make too many patches ahead. They wind up making a jumbled mess. It's better to make up only a one day trip.

Either way, make sure they are turned right side up.

The only problem with patching is when the patch is too small. In the old days pre cut patches were cut square with scissors, or were made as squares with the corners cut off.

Yes some did for navel use but that ship has sailed.

I cut my patches round because I have hole punch, in the future I'll probably cut them square, it'll take less time. The patches that I've cut at the muzzle are sort of square with rounded corners. Kind of a rounded square or a squared circle, depending on how you look at it.

I don't think the balls know the difference.

I cut square ones by the 100's using a rotary cutter.
Round or square doesn't matter as long as they cover the whole inside of the barrel.

Do pre-cut patch users put a dot in the center of patch with a sharpie. I can only imagine how haywire a shot might go with an off center patch.

Ever tried to pound a round peg down an octagonal hole?!?
From now on it’s octagonal patches for me!
It’ll take a little longer, about 5 seconds each- times 1000…. But I’m convinced the incredible increase in accuracy will more than make up for it…
