All of my fiddling and repair work on BP guns, unmentionables, motorcycles, boats, jetskis, and sundry other mechanical doo dads could not happen without an extensive set of taps, dies and thread gauges in SAE, metric and Whitworth sizes. You might have been able to change threads or chase damaged ones to work. Even a cheap Harbor Freight set is invaluable to the home shade tree mech
Harbor Freight opened here recently and it is early days yet. But a lot of what I see looks better than what is on offer at Homey Depot and Lowes. Yes, I know. Damning with faint praise.

On the other hand, I am a homeowner. Few of my tools will need the longevity of those owned by a tradesman.
 
When in doubt....shoot it out!!!
This one broke off right at the breech just an hour ago. Let it dry a bit then put as much 3f through the flash channel as I could. Replace the nipple, cap her up and ka chow!
BTW a wet patch wrapped brass brush will shoot minute of grill
