What would be the style of an early buffalo powder horn from the Eighteenth Century? Would the carving be simular to the cow horns of the era?
Nicholas Cresswell a Tory who made an ill fated trip to America 1773-6 brouht back to England a silver-mounted bison horn from his trip up the Ohio. That would be a sight to behold. I seem to remember that Boone or Clark used a bison powder horn at one time or another while in the Kaintukeee Country.
Again I'll repeat would the carving style and overall shape be the same as the cattle horns of the era?
I am thinking about making a 1700s powder horn and would appreciate any comments.
Thank You
