The smith shop at Friendship basically had two working areas in the building. One main entrance dead center of both areas. If ya turned to your left they did all small repairs. If ya looked to your right they had that vice mounted on a steel stand about waist high which was bolted to the concrete floor. It was positioned right in the middle of that work area so the smith had plenty of room to maneuver that large wrench and cheater bar. He also had a cut off 55 gallon drum with some oil in it to quench frizzen’s in after they were heated up to the desired temperature to be hardened.Those TC breech plugs can be really tough to get loose . You put one of those barrels into a 4" vice with some padded jaws added, and you better have that vice really fastened down tight or you might just rip it loose from your bench.
I owned not only a gun shop but one with an 07 license.Maybe you should keep notes so you can remember what you said....
