I think I have finally found a load it likes. 75gr FFFg goex,.020 pillow ticking from wal-mart, ballistol/water mixed 7-1 and allowed to air dry, and a .490rb. This is a 4 shot group at 50 yards with an improvised rest.

I've had plenty of good groups with my Hawken. That's as good as any of 'em and a dead deer with any of those shots. Nice shooting.

I've had real good luck with Hornady great plains bullets in my TC Hawken 50, but it has also shot some good groups with round balls too. Over all a great rifle.

I am still working on her. As you can see the group is high. I replaced the front sight with a brass blade, but I ran out of room to lower the rear. I brought the rifle home after the last session and I removed the elevation spring from the rear sight. I plan on testing it again at my next range session.

I never have gone over 50 of FFF in my 1-48 TC's

i might have to bump it up.

I have gone as high as 90 grains of FFFg Goex. I got the greatest improvement by playing with patch lube and patch thickness. The ballistol/water mix is a stiff load to rame down the barrel, but the group speaks for its self.
