My T/C Hawken has checkered fore end and pistol grip. Any info on how many were checkered?

Does the serial number on the barrel start with a "K"? Kit rifle and the checkering was added by the builder. Just speculating.

Sounds like one that came out of T/C's custom shop, Fox Ridge.
They did some pretty fancy stuff with special grade woods and stock configuration.
They closed the Fox Ridge shop even before they stopped traditional production.

Your T/C may have been checkered after it left T/C’s factory. Clear detailed photographs may help.

I believe he's saying the grip area is checkered, not that it has a pistol-grip stock. And either necchi or SDSlf is correct on where the checkering came from.

Perhaps if someone made a custom stock to try and make it look like an English Sporting rifle. That could also answer the checkering question.

I did mean the grip area. Pictures are beyond my dinosaur like capabilities! No serial number anywhere and Warren Senter's name in the barrel channel. I had visited Fox Ridge many times before it closed since I live 32 miles away but got the rifle long after the demise of T/C. Thanks everyone!
