I think there's two or three actual English guns shown in that book (rather large ones, as I recall) just for comparison to the American guns.

Dammit Chris, that ain't you in that avatar. That guy ain't wearing a Fedora. Huey Newton may be a class performer, but he just don't have the style he needs without a Fedora!

England and Britain is the same place.

No, they're not.

For future reference, since you are fond of being precise, Britain is composed of the two kingdoms of England and Scotland, with the principality of Wales. England is one country in Britain. Saying they’re the same is similar to saying that the United States and Virginia are the same place.

They may be the same as far as the syle of fowlers (I couldn't say, and don't care), but they still aren't the same place.
Well I'll be danged.....They're both the same place if you live in Iowa. :rotf:

As far as guns are concerned,I have found that the guns made in London or Birmingham are referred to by those studied in them as British or English while if it was made in Scotland or other locale it will be specified as being Scottish or Irish, etc.
A gun from New York, USA would not be referred to by any of the above titles.

The Grinslade book has only 3 English/British fowlers plus a trade gun in the front. The featured guns under the "British Style" category in teh book are American made somewhere near New York City NY and bear more resemblance to their New England cousins than to English/British fowlers. I find his designations of "British Style" and "Kentucky" have caused some to make incorrect associations.

   Jeeeez, growing old can have it's embarassing moments. Or, maybe I should not post during my cocktail hour! Wow, my most humble apologies to Mr. Lewis, but I do enjoy Mr. Newtons cookies. Especially the strawberry filled ones. They go well with a rum margarita.

Don't feel Bad Mike I thought the same.
