I just made up these Lyman sights on my Hawken-- you can get thumb knobs to replace the screw heads-- yet as others said, check the rule book...

I'm getting pretty far over the hill with my eyes. I would like to ask here if you guys think peeps sights would fly at most black powder shoots or not. I'm talking mostly local type shoots here. Also they state open sight only.I just been reading the signs, never been around to shoot.

No. Peep sights won't fly at all at most black powder shoots. :(

You might talk to them about setting up a special shoot that allows peep sights.
If they don't like that idea then do what I do.
Shoot against yourself and the H with them.

National 4-H Muzzleloader Rules:
All muzzleloading firearms shooting ONLY patched round balls are allowed (inlines with 209 primers are ok)
Sixty grain charges (MAX) of black powder or BP substitutes.
Any metallic sights allowed, including aperture and front globes.
Any safe trigger is allowed including set triggers.
All matches are fired from the standing position with NO artificial support allowed (four minutes allowed per shot).
Bottles and critters are shot at 25 yards with ten shots each.
Bullseye at 50 yards (20 shots)
Silhouettes (1/2 scale) are 5 shots per bank of five animals at: chickens (40 yards), pigs (60), turkeys (77) and rams (100).

I had the pleasure of coaching the Louisiana National 4-H Muzzleloader team this year. We proudly earned the fourth overall team award and had great fun in Grand Island!

Local club rules usually will not permit peeps. Some, like my club, do allow them. Most of our members are over the age of 70 and sighting open is difficult so peeps are permitted. Do check local rules before traveling any distance to avoid disappointment.
