This has got to be the most ridiculous question ever posted, but where the heck can a guy get some good targets? Especially of interest would be the Shoot-n-c targets, but amy others are welcome. Many Thanks - Marc

Get cardboard from shelf stockers, 9pm at WalMart when you go to buy tickin.
And in the office supply section they got some really neat fluorescent yellow, pink and green file folder labels to cut in three equal parts to make bright colored square stickers.

If you have a smaller local news paper around you can get roll ends of news print from them. Cut out what ever size circles you desire in scrap plywood ,panneling ,masonite or what ever & use for a stencil , spray with spray paint , if you use a color like orange, light blue or pink instead of black you can see your hits much easier.Make smaller circles for closer shooting , larger for further out, you can even get creative & make stencils of squirrels & wabbits or chickens, pigs turkeys &rams ,cans & bottles .....

Google "Free Targets". Remington has good ones, U.S. Palma has some, Targetz.com has good ones, www.gamecalls.net has my favorites.

I like the 1" white diamond in a 2" black square (2 medium diamonds) from the site above and the 2" white center circle in a series of black & white rings from Targetz (below).

I got a shoot and hear target. An old farm disc hanging on a chain at 25 yds. It has a 1.5 inch hole in the center. If you miss the hole, ya hear it clang.

I ordered rolls of hot pink circle stickers from Office Supply...1000 1", 1000 2", 1000 3".

I use rows of the little 1" stickers on a piece of cardboard for 15 yard practice sessions.
2" stickers on a white paper plate at 25 yards; 3" stickers at a white paper plate at 50 yards;

That's the same thing that I use. They are cheap and you can carry some into the boonies for a plinking session (of course carrying out the debris after).

Theres a link on this site for printable targets

More target choices than ya need that's fer sure..

Those shoot-n-see targets are fun I guess, but really after a few hit's with a 50 or better, all they look like is a big yellow blob. And it kinda wrecks the bullseye so you don't have a fine/small spot too shoot at

Though I make some of my own targets, I find enough usable targets at the range that I seldom need to now. they usually have a few holes in them that patch up easily with masking tape, or discarded shoot-n-c patches. I also have a supply of various 100 yard muzzleloading targets I scrounged up years ago. By patching-as long as feasible-I end up using a target for quite a few range sessions. By using your imagination you can be as cheap as I am and have some good targets, too.

Birchwood Casey is exactly what i use. I use the big 12" stick on's and then add either a 2 or 3" orange dot and then look through the bino's and see where i hit. Much easier on the eyes and legs.

I also got 4 of their portable target ranges, excellent to even bring out to the public range as most do not offer 25 yard increments.

I let my imagination run when I look for targets.---Save those 1/2,and gallon milk jugs.Buy some food coloring in the grocery store fill with water and food coloring and set down range. Any of you fellers ever buy those mini beer kegs, for parties and get togethers? Save em, They also make good targets and when you set them out for the recycler they give them some funny looks. Bowling pins can be had at gun stores for a couple of bucks. Take your scrap lumber, such as 2x4's give them a quick coat of paint and bury them part way in the ground. Also find any golf balls? try hitting those buggers at 25yds. Ticked off at that piece of manure cell phone, try shooting that. And dont forget the traditional tin cans. paint the different colors so you can see the hit spots. JUST REMEMBER to clean up your range when your done. Sometimes my hurby-curby sounds like a giant tin can with stones in it when I take it out to the curb on garbage day. Never, ever shoot glass a mess to clean up, and a chance to get cut picking it up.

If you want some reactive targets other than paper, charcoal briquets make good targets. You just loop a piece of string around one and hang it from a limb. When a bullet hits it squarely, it diappears in a black cloud. If you can find eggs on sale, you can do the same with them and they, too make great targets. I have made plaster targets by pouring plaser of paris into empty egg cartons and sticking a piece of string into the wet plaster before it sets. The paper cartons are a bit difficult to get loose from your plaster targets so you will just have to cut them apart and then peel off the paper carton the best you can. I prefer the foam cartons and I spray them with Pam before pouring in the plaster. If you want, you can add food color to the plaster or just spray the dry targets with paint to give them a bit more visability. For larger targets, you can fill empty water bottles with colored water. For big targets, the plastic gallon jugs are great. Just never use glass and be sure to pick up and porperly dispose of any plastic bottles that you use. Oh, and don't forget the clay targets. They are great for calibers of .45 or larger. The .32, .36 and .40 calibers seem to be more inclined to punch a hole through the clay target without breaking it completely every time. The larger calibers will shatter them every time.

Thanks for all the varied and creative choices. When I used to work in an office I must have xeroxed 3,000 targets. I was shooting a lotta pistol (primarily .38, .44mag and .45 ACP) on the weekends. I also "liberated" some great orange and yellow circles used on computer tapes in the library downstairs (they had zillionz)and together I figured I was set for a long while.

Well, the "long while" met its end last week. OK, I thought, I had a good long free ride I'll just buy some now. But I couldn't find ANY! What a crazy world. So thanks for the help.

By the way, my absolute favorite targets used to be litre bottles filled with water. Nuthin' better for the mind and soul than sending those things into orbit.

Being as I am a cheapskate I save the plastic lids from milk cartons staple them on to a used sheet of printer paper and staple the whole thing to an piece of an empty cardboard box and place it in front of a heavy chunk of wood.Replacing as neccesary. After a few hundred rounds into the chunk of wood I recover the lead and start over. Also I recover the larger pieces of clay pigons and place them in front of a used piece of printer paper and replace them as they shatter. All are free except for the staples. :hmm:

Hey Weasel, Your Avatar blown up to 8½" X 11" would be a good target. :haha:
