I don't know why/if folks are buying all the TC Hawken parts on fleaBay.
I recently needed parts and Ebay was the only place I could find them,, a T/C double trigger($22) and a Renegade Trigger guard($18).
Both where auction and I lost a few bids that went too high for me before I got those.
Sure ain't the price it was 10yrs ago!!
A new trigger set alone is $50+ even for the aftermarket.

Used to be able to get the Davis triggers for $40, glad a brought an extra, $57 at track now

I have put several complete rifles together from parts on flea bay. Just bid like you have some sense. The last one a few months ago is a.54 cal Saint Louis Hawken in flint. I changed a percussion barrel over to flint to save on the purchase price.

Some of the eBay prices have been insane. I have a Renegade that needs a couple of bits - the wedge pin and a factory ramrod (don't want synthetic stuff, and don't want brass on a Renegade), but they have been cost prohibitive. I will keep waiting...

Yup, the key to Ebay is to just bid what your willing to pay and leave it, walk away,, if someone goes higher so-be-it.

You might just look for a Renegade barrel with a bad bore and have it rebored to .58. I was shooting my .58 flinter yesterday and REALLY happy with how well it shot....1-56" twist.

Happy B-day there to ya Mr excess650. Hopefully the black powder gods will bestow upon you a new gun perhaps:grin:

As of a year or two ago, T\C Hawken & Renegade rifles *IN PERCUSSION have been around my area in abundance for low (100-150) prices. Their condition is a crap shoot, but many are in fine shape. I have never run across any in flintlock! I also have noticed that these low prices are starting to rise substantially as of late. What has really gone up has been parts for these rifles! Locks and barrels are going for what entire guns used to sell for! There are a lot of sellers dismantling T\C's for this boom in the parts trade!

I need to go to your area and load up on TC's and bring them back here to sell at a 3 or 4 hundred percent profit. The prices here are beyond ridiculous! Right now I know of two pawn shops and one gun shop peddling off 4 TC Hawkens for between $450-$500. Of course they will give a little on those prices, but not very much at all.

:eek:ff Thank you. I'm not exactly celebrating, but partaking a Guinness and working on a Leman flintlock build. The added drop in the stock and 36" barrel length suits me better than any of the TCs.

That said, I will keep an eye on TC prices in my locale.

about a year ago I got off my cheapskate horse and plonked down the can't-remember-how-much for the Davis Deerslayer ... huge difference!

well worth the money, IMO

Free advice, and worth the price!

I got the impression that fleabay doesn't allow gun sales but does permit gun parts, hence the parcelled out Hawkins. Here in northern Virginia, T/C's sometimes go cheap at gun shows. Not much interest in muzzle loaders among the 9mm crowd. My last three were from shows. A .54 had a sticky, sluggish lock. Got it plus a box of loaders, conicals and round balls for $125, end of the show. Cleaned the lock up and all was good.

That is a smoking deal! I was in a gun shop today, and they wanted $50 for a rusted Traditions plastic stock sidelock with a broken lock. The Thompson Center rifles on the used rack were all $595 each.

There's a fifty Hawken I could probably get for less than 250, virtually unfired. And dangit if I'm willing to go that much. All though, I don't have a percussion fifty...
:hmm: :hmm:

Hmmm, well, I am putting in around 30% overtime...

And that's kinda of a gotcha 'cause there aint time to play wiff'em!!!

Well, this never happens to me, but I have a line on a package deal that I consider to be pretty good. All guns are at least a 9 out 10 and maybe better.

All 4 are T/C .50 cal and are:

1. Hawken
2. Renegade
3. White Mtn Carbine (pretty certain never been shot), with a sling
4. Scout with synthetic stock.

About 150 maxi balls and then some other balls and whatever other supplies are still there.

Guy will sell all 4 for 550.00 Not sure I can pass that deal up!

That's about a normal used price here. BUT you are not in this area so go for it.

Zonie has a phrase that I like, "frinkled with".

I read hear a lot and folks are always talking about how they "frinkled with" a T/C Hawken or Renegade by changing triggers to Davis, swapping out locks to Lyman, swapping out frizzen's, re-finishing stocks and changing blueing to browning, changing sights and on and on.

What does such frinkling have to do with the prices on T/C rifles and how many original T/C rifles still exist and how does that affect prices with such changes?
