While I was stationed in Germany I bought a book on ebay which got shipped media mail. That's already a four month journey. It left CA headed to NY to ride a boat over to Europe. Two weeks after getting to NY it was on its way back to CA. Huh??? Several months go by and I get a call from the base post office to come pick up my package....in South Korea. Suddenly realizing the address on the box said APO "AE", the clerk forwarded it to me, by way of boat back to the US so it could get to a boat in NY headed for Europe. Dunno why it couldn't fly space A from Korea to Germany after its hobbit-like unexpected journey around the planet.

No excuse! Happens every year. They should be use to it by now and plan accordingly. Except their management is lazy and good for nothing!
Boy - O=Boy I cant see how any company that don't have a full staff of workers simply because so many people are not willing to take a job could plan ahead ????? I worked in the Deliver business for 45 years and I know first hand how the Holidays work and there is no amount of planning ahead that will do any good if people will not work for you. So if you have the solution you can get rich teaching it.

It was a very, very light Christmas this year.
You could be correct but I am sure that a lot of people shop on line and that increases every year so I have not checked the numbers but believe that when all done it will be up a lot

I purchased an item on line about 6 months ago from a company located in Tennessee. When I purchased I’m thinking the item would probably arrive at my mailbox the next day due to the close proximity of our two states, you know, states that share borders. Well… I was wrong. On the third day and still no package I checked the tracking information on the USPS website and discovered that it had been shipped clear across the country to California. My package eventually arrived in my mailbox 6 days later.

This same thing has happened to me on three occasions over the past 5 years. Makes you wonder sometimes if this is done on purpose, having a bad day, mad at your supervisor? Let’s take our frustrations out on someone we don’t even know. Of course, I have no idea this is true however what I gather from the postal workers union website is that they appear only to be concerned with themselves and what they can squeeze out of management. Make my job easier and pay me more money!

A kind person on here responded to my ad wanting back issues of Guns of the Old West magazine. He took them to his local Post Office in Rocky Gap VA. That's as far as they got according to the tracking info provided. The great USPS has lost them. Thanks a lot you overpaid bunch of idiots.

I shipped two guns out last week. Both USPS Priority mail with tracking and insurance. Both buyers received the guns and sent me a message. That was a week ago and the tracking on both packages still shows that they have not even been delivered.

Check the mens rest room at the Rocky Gap PO.

Filing a claim for lost MO with them is a joke. Wait 60 days to file and them you need to pay to file the claim. So I gotta pay to file a claim to get my money back happened to me twice. When doing business with someone who wont take a check I guess I just wont buy it because I will no longer buy any MO from USPS.
No money orders, postal or otherwise, ever. My check or cash or go find another buyer.

My wife sent a Xmas gift package to our daughter and son in-law. Inside this package was 1000.00 dollars worth of SOUTHWEST Airlines travel gift cards. Unfortunately she put the wrong address on the package. She realized it at 2:30 PM about 35 minutes after she left the post office. She zoomed up to the post office to retrieve the package and was told the truck had already left to go to the distribution center and she would have to go on line and file an intercept to get the package returned to sender. She attempted to file the intercept on line but was unable because the address was invalid. Here is the rub. You can't use the tracking # only the address to file an intercept. She spent 45+ minutes in the phone most of it on hold. Finally got a real person who was very helpful and notified the Post Master in Reno. The Post Master contacted my wife the very next morning and told her that the package would be intercepted at his office and returned. In the end it all worked out and my daughter was able to pick up the package at the office. Now the ugly details. 2:45 PM wife arrives and was told package left the office, when in fact it didn't leave the office until 5:48 PM . Then it went to the way to New Jersey before heading to Reno Nevada. The lazy postal worker could have walked to the back room and got the box so my wife could have addresed correctly. Another plus the USPS can't intercept a package using a tracking # only the address. WTH?

I bought a rifle barrel and the USPS lost it because it was shipped in a cardboard tube and it slipped out of the tube at some point and they put an empty cardboard tube in my box with one end ripped open so I went to my local post office and reported it and I received it the next day undamaged luckily but other than that I've had good service from them

The US Postal Service looses about $8,000,000,000 per year, I would not classify it as a top notch post office. My local mailman was an absolute jerk right up to the day he retired. They must have hired his daughter as his replacement because she is not only rude she is stupid as well. I’ll bet I get three to five letters per week that belong to someone else. I’m beginning to think maybe she can’t read, just recognizes the printed numbers. Don’t even ask about how rude and lazy they are at the local post office.
The USPS operates consistently in the red. Always have and always will. It's always my last resort.
