No one has mentioned a Fried Turkey! We have been doing one for the past 15 or so years. The fried turkey is usually all gone and the baked one is what is taken home for leftovers.
don't some people stick a large can of FORSTERS ALE, up the birds butt and cook it that way?But i did a turkey this year with smoker

One of my favorite "traditions" is the long standing practice of risking one's fingers to get "pickin' pieces." It starts while carving is underway and lasts until we sit to eat.... brothers and dogs like it too.
My mom sometimes had a dry turkey. I hated dry turkey that you had to smother in gravy just to swallow it. Dry turkey will make me gag!My mom used to be one of those mothers who put the turkey on at midnight and did not take it out till noon the next day, dry as a bone and I hated turkey, pass the ham.
Turkey on the Weber charcoal grill now using a thermometer in the breast, the wife will not allow me to cook it any other way, she says it is the juiciest turkey she has ever had.

I love apple pie and cheddarOyster stuffing makes its way around. Not super common here in Connecticut but nit unknown. I liked it when I had it.
How about a real old Yankee thing,, a slice of extra sharp cheddar cheese eaten with your apple pie.... mmmmm the sharper the better....
Not melted on or put in as some people mistake. Just eaten with.
That's the way I grew up....When someone asked why eat apple pie like that my dad would always say .."Apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze..."I love apple pie and cheddar

Lived south of Buffalo, NY for my first 27 years. My mothers sister always made oyster stuffing (my dad loved it) on Thanksgiving and we all had some. On New Years Day, my father made a large pot of oyster stew. My friends from that era still remember fondly, stopping by the house for a bowl!I think oyster stuff is a regional thing. Never had it but it sounds great. My favorite T'day turkey is the New Orleans style 'turduckin'. Must be pre-ordered and cooked thoroughly. It is a boned turkey stuffed with a boned duck that is stuffed with a boned chicken and all stuffed with stuffing. Flavor and enjoyment eating is beyond description. Those Cajuns and Creoles are the best cooks in the world, IMHO.
I went to an apple pie festival in Vermont a few years ago. Every slice was served with cheese. You are not alone!I love apple pie and cheddar
