OK, I apologize in advance, but I want to vent.

Almost a year ago I ordered a bunch of castings from the RifleShoppe, including a set of wheellock castings. Vern (or his wife) ordered the same set of wheellock castings weeks after I ordered mine and he got his right away.

Today UPS tosses a package on the porch and it's from the RifleShoppe Yay! Well, there's the wheellock drawings, which their web site does not describe (maybe in the catalog, but after 4 years, I still haven't been able to get one). Turns out they are not RifleShoppe dwgs, just a shall we say "adequate" set that I already own. And there's something else in the box - an inletted pistol stock! I did not order a stock! And it's warped, and there's a little bit less wood than there should be in some areas. I have to wonder if the inletting leaves any wood to trim for a good fit. It crossed my mind to just keep it, but I would end up having to toss it or settle for so-so.

No castings. I ordered the castings, everything BUT the stock, and what do they send me? GRRRR. Now I have to deal with a screw up as icing on the nice long wait.

And there was no notification, no signature required at delivery. If UPS had lost it would I ever know???

:curse:

Other than that, we're having fun here.

Hey "W"
Say why don't you do a trace then push for a montary reward. If it costs who ever is at fault maybe that will send a better message. Just some thing to think about...
I have just ordered a "Pistor"Jaeger kit. With completed lock, a 62 cal.swamped barrell. I will keep everyone informed as to the progress... The rifle shoppe has said it will be 6 to 8 weeks. I asked if they had the parts in stock. They expressed they had so...
Damn it I hope they don't mess up mine for sure. I have a few other guys in my unit,we are deciding if we are going to make a rifle section up. So they choose me as the lab rat, and are watching my order to see how it goes before they order theirs...
Best regards Loyalist Dawg

I forgot to put in the part where TRS is doing a great service, etc., which they are, and the reason I placed my order (and gambled all those dollars) is partly that I'm afraid somebody is going to get ticked off enough to sue and put him out of business. At least he's doing it, however annoyingly. Not many others are willing to take on that kind of task. And how good a talker does it take to get people to let you take their valuable antiques apart and make molds from the pieces??? I sure couldn't do what he has done.

I think next time I'll just find out what he has in stock and buy whatever I think I can use.

Interrupted by the doorbell - bonanza! A box of castings! Gotta run...

TRS might be a Fantasy website, but I don't see anyone else offering anything near his selection. Since I've never dealt with the fella, all I have to go on is hearsay, so I'm willing to give him an initial chance, at least on some of the less expensive items. I'm not adverse to an extended waiting period as long as I know in advance.
Ya, I've never heard anything good about TRS's customer relations and supply status, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about the quality of his goods.

Yes I :agree: with you Skagun...
That's why I have placed my order... $1200 US (we call real money) is what about a million dollars Canuck... To us this is a heck of a lot of cash... However to be honest, the "hear say" does cause us some worry...I have seen a few (5) of his pieces and they are top knotch... We'll see how the service side goes, But Like I said I will keep yeas posted... Loyalist Dawg

Did you talk to anyone, or was it on line? For $1200, I'd be wantin' to talk to a real life person. Wow! $1200.00 Now That's a statement of faith!:hatsoff:
I was aiming more around the $200.00 mark myself.
"You're a better man than I am, Gungha Din"! :master:

Hey Skagun
well if he delivers, he might get that times five right? It costs to be Canuck... and like I said I have seen five of his pieces... Loyalist Dawg
PS better man, heck more like I am a :hatsoff: greater fool

I ordered the fancy mid-1700's holster pistol castings, and it has a lot of engraving, so I was really wondering what I was going to get - cast engraving usually isn't so hot. I have to say TRS did an excellent job. Here's the frizzen after a couple of minutes with a diamond lap and a quick swipe with a burnisher.

All the castings look excellent, except for the pan for the wheellock (of course - it has to have a good fit over the wheel) I'll have to add a little metal there, but as far as I can tell everything else of consequence is AOK.

Worth the wait, sure. The frustration...

Oh, and this package was also delivered with no signature required, no notification from TRS - if it had gone astray it would have been a while before I'd known.

Oh well, all's well that ends well. Great castings. I'm happy.

See that's what I was saying, nice eh? The service well I will report back after... He does do nice stuff though... Best regards Loyalist Dawg :hatsoff:

Well heres my penny worth. Ordered a lock for my repro Baker end of Jan, assured it would be 10 to 12 weeks possibly 8?. Missed a competition at 15 weeks no lock. After many phone calls ( which cost a small fortune)and emails both of which most were not answered the lock appeared after 20 weeks. I was emailed with a parcel tracing number. An explanation was finaly offered that a staff member had had a bereavement in the family and that the lock springs were not tempered properly and had to be done again. The lock is flat faced not round as ordered ( thats my fault apparently!) The hammer does not fly forward correctly after being struck. Emailed them with this info but no response. Another muzzle loader here ordered a Baker kit over a year ago. They took his money through paypal and he then heard nothing not a bleep untill out of the blue last week a box turns up. None of his emails were answered. He had threatened legal action. The web site is a fantasy, the customer service statement is pure fabrication. I wish I'd never bothered. Buyer beware. :nono:

Well Mike
as the man says we'll see what hapens won't we... I will keep all you guys informed for sure...
Best regards loyalist Dawg, :shake:

I ordered a hand mortar (819) last November. They told me it was ready in May. Barrel arrived 2nd week of September and am still waiting for the rest.

They are like a crack dealer, they know your addicted and don't have any place else to go.

I am really curious what they do on a daily basis at the Rifle Shop.... is it the home of the World Champion Free Cell team?

Hi Guys
Yahooooooooooooooo..... The rifle shoppe sent me an e-mail about my Jagear kit!!!! I will keep you guys posted and sent pic's of the kit, :hmm:(along with the construction steps, and after it is done).
Best regards Loyalist Dawg :hatsoff:

An email!!?? Wonders never cease.

I ordered a set that was in stock, and was told they'd "try" to get it shipped that Friday. That was a month ago.

congratulations!
could you post a pic when they arrive? I reckon a lot of use would be interested in exactly what you get from TRS

Great news! You must live a blessed life. If I thought I could get anything from them in less than a year I'd order a bunch of stuff from them again.
You'll love the quality. Everything I ever got from them years ago was top notch stuff.......just getting it was always the main problem.

For what it's worth, I emailed them with a question about in stock items (and included THEIR text and stock numbers at the bottom of the email subject).
They responded to the initial email and the subsequent questions, then took about a week to get back to me with a total damage price.
I sent them the check, got the stuff about a week to ten days after they cashed it. This was a week ago.

Well Here it guys
Delivery on the 19th...ok so ..... well I waited, no package. Gee maybe it was lost in the mail, customs, "O" no... So I sent them an e-mail... They said the parts needed just arrived... OK so now it's another 2 to 3 weeks... Well I guess I have to wait a little longer.... :shake:
"O" wells I got the winter to build it right? 2 to 3 weeks gee an christmas present that's the ticket... I will keep you all informed...Honest I am not upset...
best regards Loyalistdawg
