Thanks 1sgt, I had thought about the Investarms locks and looked those up as well...
The scroll work/ stamping on them are quite a bit different than the ones pictured above..

Of course they may have changed designs over the years too....

As long as the lock sparks and fires good I’ve never had an issue with the only flint TC I’ve ever owned.....

I’m not certain which lock is on it.... I guess I’ll take a look later and see...
I hope you are doing well and we get too shoot the woods walk at Friendship again this Spring.

I don’t remember ever seeing a conversion kit for TC’s , but I’m not that much up on those kind of things. But it’s a great idea!

It looks like TC did make some changes over the years. When I purchased the lock I thought it was a TC lock, but may have been Investarms/Lyman or other. It fit in, I did have to remove a little wood for one of the bridle screw heads.

I once heard TC sold a percussion lock and drum as a conversion kit for someone with a flintlock to convert to percussion. I don't know how popular they were.

It sparks pretty good if I get the flint where it needs to be. I need to shoot it more.
If I remember right
I alway look at the Bridle screws and if it has 3 screws it was an Investarms lock, 2 screws it's a T/C lock.
I may be wrong in this.

I hope we can shoot the woods walk at Friendship in June. Thanks for the information

That’s what I was thinking as well...
Just wasn’t sure if there were different scrolling on percussion vs flint of the same year model and type ,,Hawken vs Renagde.

Here’s mine it’s on a Renegade model # 377—- In not sure if it’s age but appears too be the older style cock... never an issue with it so far, but haven’t shot it much in the last 10 + years....

I didn’t measure , but I think that’s a 3/4 x 5/8’s “ flint...

I had a run in with T/C flintlocks and just changed the whole lock to a conventual lock. I was a little pain because I had to hog out some wood, but the difference is worth it to me. Investa arms and the T/C locks are darn near the same if one didn't know better they look the same. I don't care for the coil spring method of operation.

Probably not the best design.. agreed. But mine seems too work ok, but definitely not a. $200 + lock either.

When I had the shop a guy came through with a trunk full of this and that. I bought a full box of 20 locks flint and cap lock for 10 bucks a piece. They were all coil spring actions and being new they worked good enough. I did tune them and added a washers for bearing surfaces where I could.

I’ll take a truck load! Lol

Those were the days, pretty much gone now. I used all the locks except one flintlock. I made some cheap shooting rifles and pistols for guys just starting out, but those old weapons are still shooting, I have retuned some of those cheap locks, Some of them just didn't hold up to good, some of them did.

Since the ownership of T/C has been transferred to Smith and Wesson and the parts for the traditional T/C rifles are no longer being manufactured, the lifetime warranty ended with the end of the life of T/C.

You can't miss the new and old cock shape and geometry differences.
