The to the chin thing I've been told is because it's easier to reload without looking down, that way you don't lose track of were your deer or bear went.

That sounds about right, I'm 6'4" and my custom rifle has a 15 inch LOP along with the proper drop and cast off for shooting left handed. Until I got this rifle I didn't realize that I was trying to fit myself to the gun instead of getting it to fit me in the first place.

Height, only, is not what determines lop.....

I'm very aware of the various factors that determine length of pull....including personal preference (Don).....I had just never heard of it being determined by someones hat size. :hmm:

That's a new one and it kinda threw me. :v Enjoy, J.D.

Yup, hat size is important. Iffin yer hat gets pushed back by the comb, it means your hat is too big.....actually I kinda think it's the HEAD that's too big, in that case. And we haven't even started talking about ears. :rotf:

Don't step in that - it smells really bad.

Seriously, any reliable gunsmith will measure you for length of pull and watch how you shoulder your arm before opining on an arbitrary overall length of the gun. There are too many other consideration before thinking about your chin to ground length.
