Looking at picking up a flintlock pistol and looking at the Traditions Trapper. Mostly just for fun shooting, but would also like to possibly use it in NMLRA Kentucky pistol matches. Looking at the rules it looks like the set trigger is ok and the only thing I would have to do is replace the adjustable rear sight with a fixed sight. Anyone that shoots NMLRA pistol matches know if this is correct?

You would also have to remove the "hump" at the top of the grip. Traditional pistols must have a "plowhandle" grip.

Thanks Larry. I did wonder about the "plowhandle" rule. It seems that some people remove the hump from these anyway. I also may remove the extra hook on the bottom of the trigger guard that looks odd to me as well. Thinking about getting the kit vs. the finished gun, problem is you can get the finished gun for only about $20 more than the kit.

If you are looking at the rules and regulations on the NMLRA web site, they are outdated. The rule for sights have been amended to the requirement the fixed rear sight can be a maximum 5/16" high and 1/2" wide. The front sight can be a maximum .100" wide.
