I like the ignore function on this forum. A lot of these people that are what Charlie Murphy (RIP) used to call Habitual Line Crossers, those that make statements that cross the line from friendly conversations to trying a persons patience , are just getting ignored.

I would much rather buy all top notch gear but sometimes ive got to be practical and buy that which i can afford. And guess what, sometimes cheap guns can still be satisfying to own.
My caddy is getting old and rusty but i am more than satisfied with it.

I do not use a short starter in my .32 as it is not necessary. I simply center everything and push it down just a little with my fingers. That way if it is off center, its easy to realign it. Overall, I don't find it all that difficult to get the patch/ball centered. But sometimes off center does happen to a small degree.

I have considered making a bullet board but to be honest, considering how small the bore is on a .32, I'm not so sure it would make loading all that much easier, especially in the darker hardwoods.

Mine must be a tighter fit.
That initial push with my thumb doesn't always wedge the ball and patch into the bore.
I've thought about polishing just the crown area, but am hesitant to because it seems to shoot so well.

Is there any factual data to prove that a perfectly cut patch around a RB is more accurate? I strive to load with the precut patch centered but sometimes it just doesn't happen. I have read that as long as the patch is all the way around the ball it matters not.

the bevel brothers did a article on this in muzzleblasts a couple of years ago. the gist of it was it didn't make any difference as long as it was all the way around the ball

There were a couple shots yesterday where I wasn't as close to centered as I wanted to be and I think it did not make a difference.
But it still bugged me.

It's pretty obvious you enjoy controversy. You need a hobby besides criticizing me. I'd prefer you put me on ignore along with all the others that have supposedly done the same.
As I stated earlier you brought this back from seven pages ago and then made a snarky comment to go along with it.

I'm using the ignore feature on a couple of you.
The only Traditions in my collection is a .54 cal Deerhunter flintlock. I don't hunt deer and I have enough other guns iny collection so that I will never shoot it, or any one enough to wear it out.

The barrel rib was cut too short to where there is a gap between it and the nose cap. No big deal on a functional aspect, only cosmetic.

I just ran into the same problem on the Traditions Frontier kit I started. Maybe that's why it was on sale?
I doubt anyone else would ever notice it, but I have to fix it for my own sanity!

But how could you possibly enjoy it knowing the barrel rib was short? I can't in good conscience put someone through that anguish.

I really did not know there was a difference in the rib length. So long or short its all ok to me. Lets face it i am just going to load n shoot it.

I'm not a fan of Traditions guns. Might be a decent starter gun for a kid, but IMO anyone who is serious about muzzleloaders will consider better quality firearms. Let the flaming begin.

I wonder how many MLers have started with a CVA or Traditions but then moved on to a custom or professional built gun. I think Traditions has created a bunch of Kibler shooters.
