Seems you’re trying to cross muzzleloading with PX commando. Maybe you picked the wrong sport.
Not that long ago you could read about (and order) depleted uranium frizzens and how well they sparked in the Muzzle Blasts magazine. Turned out to be a bad idea.

The NMLRA declared them not legal for their matches. And, rightly so, IMHO. I believe many/most states have outlawed it for hunting purposes.
But they did spark. I know someone that still claims to use them with no personal health concerns, though last time I saw him he was still a 3 plus pack a day smoker, do I guess the jury is still out…. And I am unaware of any state hunting regulations regarding frizzen material, do you mind sharing a source?

And to the OP, uranium has a density of about 18.9 g/cm3 while lead’s is 11.34 g/cm3. Simple math says if a .49” diameter lead ball weighs 177 grains, a .49” diameter uranium ball would weigh a bit under 296 grains.

and if we can ever find a bb that weighs 300 grains , do not stick it into your nose. find more of em and shoot those things goodness ... but i wouldnt go casting with that material.

My recollection is that depleted uranium is not zero radioactivity, it is simply 'less' radioactivity. Presumably, it it is in one hunk, and you limit exposure, it is tolerable, as the A-10 fires DU bullets. However, when they impact they shatter into dust, and anything that has been shot with a DU round will be hot with radioactivity. There's a whole lotta hazardous mess tanks in Iraq that belonged to Saddam Hussein that we blew up.
