TVM Early Virginia on its way

TVM sent me these pics of my .54 caliber 42" Early Virginia with walnut stock and iron furniture. Should arrive next week. Turnaround time from placing my order to completed rifle was about ten months.

10 months. They have been great to work with.

I have (2) TVMs. A .40 Late Lancaster in percussion. And my primary hunting rig - an Iron PA in .54 Flintlock. I love both of them! Could not be happier. & The office girls still occasionally reach out me. I think they secretly like Yankees.

One thing to consider is the large gap between the barrel flat and the bottom of the front blade sight. That space is an issue waiting to happen.
Maybe they can get that sight resting flush to the barrel before shipping it out to you.

That walnut gun looks like one used at the Battle of Point Pleasent , in W.Va. , along Ohio and Kanawha Rivers , Lord Dunmore's War.

I didn’t zoom in enough to catch that. @Dwight Harley, I’d ask them about that before it ships as suggested. Couldn’t hurt to ask about it.

i had an early TVM Virginia in 45 i sold here, it was a tack driver! i had a TVM southern rifle in 54 it was also a tack driver and a deer killer! here is a 50yd 3 shot group i shot offhand. i can't shoot that good every time but i did that time! LOL! your gun looks good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I'd definitely ask them to work on that front sight.

If the rifle has already been shipped or in hand, I would just file the dove tail deeper with a three corner safe file then bump the dove tail ears for a snug fit. Edit: Could also file the base of the sight to lower it.

Funny I don’t see it?? I think it’s a photo mirage. I zoomed in. It looks like the barrel is turned a bit and the way the edge looks like it’s riding high off the barrel, but I don’t think that’s the case. Who knows I could be wrong.

I looked at the last picture and enlarged it, to me there is definitely about a gap about 1/32 or 1/16 of an inch, the wall behind it shows through. Really an easy fix.

Melanie of TVM told me they inspect every gun before it ships. If the sight gap is really that big how did it pass inspection? Flintleather

I have talked to Melanie about my concern with the sight as it appears in the picture, but the rifle had already been shipped. UPS is supposed to deliver it today. She told me to let them know if I still have concerns when I have the rifle in hand.

I would have concerns about that gap under the front sight. There should be virtually no gap.
