I have a couple BP rifles that my grandfather made back I believe in the 70's but not positive and one of them has a GR Douglas 32 Cal barrel and I was wondering what the twist rate on it was. This is a ball and cap gun if that matters and has not been shot at least for 30 years.

Unless its a "Hawken" (these were all larger bore IIRC and 36" long) or a 7 groove marked for Golden Age arms its a 66" twist. The Hawken and 7 groove GAA barrels were 48"

GR Douglas

I'm not real conversant with regards to factory made rifle. There has been a lot of closings, buying of one factory from another, contracting for parts etc.
It gets complexcated.
But Green River makes/made their own barrels. So wouldn't call it a GR-Douglas barrel be like saying it is a GM-Ford car?
I dunno. :idunno: Just asking.

Good point. But, did Douglas ever contract out barrels to Green River or vise versa? Me, too, I don't know, :idunno: just asking.

G.R. Douglas, that was his name. G.R. was his initials. Gerald Randolf Douglas

And they are still making barrels for CF as they have for DECADES. Why the stopped making ML barrels is another story.

This is the stamping on the 7 groove barrels made for Golden Age Arms.
