I just got a new uberti remington 1858 and when trying to get the cylinder back in while on half cock it is stopped by the hand which is slightly protruding out of the frame. I have to push the hand in with a small screwdriver and slide the clylinder past. Is this normal for a new pistol and will it wear in with shooting or is it out of time and need to be adjusted? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum. :)

When you insert the cylinder from the right side, rotate it in the same direction it normally rotates as you push it inward.

The rotation will automatically push the hand back into the slot which will allow the cylinder to move into alignment with the cylinder pin.

Hold the grip in your right hand, right side of the gun down. Slide the cylinder in from the right side while rotating clockwise between the left thumb and fingers. It will drop right in.
