Update for interested parties, spent some time at the range today. A .433 ball with a .010 patch work great. I didn’t keep a strict count, but had between 15-20 shots with no need to clean in between. I already had some pre-lubed patches but made sure they were moist and in good condition and that combo worked fine. I do plan to try lubing my own patches in the future though. Thank you everyone for the input, it was a much more enjoyable shooting experience!

As an aside, I also picked up one of those barrel cleaners with a clamp and hose that goes over the touch hole for cleaning. That’s great! I can see why some folks might give up on flintlocks, it was certainly a pain to shoot having to swab between each shots and then a pain to clean once I got it home. A bit of experimenting and help from folks such as yourselves goes a long ways though and I’m having a lot fun. Many thanks!

ML Builders supply sell correct brushes that are looped through the base. Now for all be smarter than the brush Push it down the bore, Now turn the rod clockwise while pulling up. The brush will reverse itself and pull up fine.

Don't believe the never use a brush folks.

I also agree use some .433 balls and .015 patch
