underhammer spring question

Need help on an underhammer project. I am building an underhammer action from scratch with parts from Deer Cr.(H&A action parts). My question pertains to a U-shaped spring with 2 arms that tensions the trigger (I believe).How and where does it go in?
1. On trigger or hammer?
2. U up or down?
3. Long arm forward or back?

I know the spring that you are talking about. I have a number of rifles built with the same action and I don't use the trigger tension spring.

If you are using Deer creek parts that little spring is essential, without it the trigger sear will not re-engage with the sear of the hammer. The cross bolt, which attaches the trigger to the reciever frame, goes through the loop of the spring. Look at your trigger, it will have a slot in the top, the spring loop fits in this with the "U" down. The cross bolt fits through both the trigger and the spring loop. Getting it all together and the sex screw tight into the reciever frame can be a pain so be patient...

I do have one older H&A which doesn't have the spring instead the trigger guard has an extention tail, which sits behind the trigger and re-engages the trigger sear with the hammer sear. This arrangement seems like a better idea, why it isn't more widely used is beyond me, much simpler.
