OK...which way do you load your cast balls..."spruce up" or "spruce down" and why do you load them that way?

Sprue up. I agree with RC if the sprue is down how can you tell if it is centered?? :idunno: ................watch yer top knot...................

Load it sprue up  but I think the Bevel brothers did a test to see if it mattered and I think they said it did'nt matter. :idunno:

Spruce up,,,Oak down....

Jeezz, another slacker :blah: don't ya know thats one less excuse to use when you flub a group!

I use store bought too, but sometimes I buy the cast ones from Track Of The Wolf. Those I load sprue up cause thats the way I`ve always heard your suposed to do it.

Is it just me or does this topic sound like an ad for an after shave lotion?

"After your morning shave, spruce up with "BITE ME!", the NEW AFTER SHAVE LOTION for you older MEN who have tired of trying to make women happy.
"BITE ME!" has the invigorating scent of both Black Powder smoke and HOPPE'S #9 to satisfy both the muzzleloaders and the modern cartridge shooters of America!"

Oh.... When loading cast roundballs I locate the cast sprue up so I know it isn't interfering with the bore.

Sprue up. Tells me it is centered.
Why ? Because my Daddy said to. Never argued with that man. :)

Sprue up so I can see it centered. I've got to where I tumble my ball so normally there is no sprue. Then I don't have to worry about it and load them like they are swaged. Sprue on WW ball won't disappear but I only use WW in my smoothbore.
