FY,
It is weird that the dang, infamous 30 are all from IN. I assume that they are local and can attend meetings at club. They want things run to benefit themselves? Ya gotta watch those Hoosiers, I know, cuzz I'm one.
Maybe this post/issues should have been moved where more people/NMLRA members, (the infamous 30), would have seen it, come out of the woodwork, and replied?
Any ideas how we can get-er-done? Moved ti Recent Topics?
Keep the faith fellers,
Deacon

A part of the falling membership numbers has to do with " taxation without representation " . NMLRA in name only, should read EMLRA as they seem to not give a hoot about anything west of The Mississippi :cursing: . Its like anything else if you choose not to promote it, it very well ends up dieing, may take awhile but it will fold :snore: . They do one western show a year, in Feb. about 1000 miles away, needs to be spread around to several sites (states) and promoted...

Assume you are talking the Western National Shoot in (PHX) AZ normally held in February.

They also (NMLRA) had a Territorial Shoot program that was in various place in the US. Run by local NMLRA affiliate clubs.

But the Clubs did the Work, and the NMLRA get the GREEN. so many of the Club decided to do their own Big Annual Rendezvous, or Club Shoot, and get the GREEN from their SWEAT, and HARD WORK.
:hmm:

Sorry but 703 is not an Indiana area code but Virginia so it must be Winston's number.

So he is an EAST of the Mississippi Guy than for sure :nono: ....Like the other 90% of the NMLRA's Directors....

BTW do you know what the "N" in NMLRA stands For????

This is a TRICK Question....

Get it correct, and you could get a prize.....
:hatsoff:

This is juts a comment not in response to any particular post, when an org or group has a central local and the majority of members who use the facility and are involved in the policy making one can expect what this has become a sort of tri-state gun club with members nation wide that may never step foot on the property not saying the setup is good or bad just inevitable

and remember if you are not a member you are carrying Johns load..

I have heard the line for years, if you are not a NMLRA Member you are part of the NMLRA’s problem, as the NMLRA is carrying a load with out your help.

To that I say :bull: , as I see no reason to be a member of a regional club that pretend to be a National Organization.

I see ZERO Value in spending $40.00/year for a NON NEWS STAND Quality Repetitive Magazine called Muzzle Blast, with an occasional Great Cover Shot of a Fine Rifle.

The other Membership Benefit INHO do not add up to SQUAT for this Guy living over 1,0000 from Friendship.

Now if I lived with in a couple of hour drive of Friendship, than maybe NMLRA Membership Might appeal to Me.

Friendship will continue to be a BUST, until the NMLRA's 30 Directors wake up, and start listening to their members, and ex members IMHO...
:rotf:

Memberships:
If you check any of the sporting associations the majority of membership is from the north east.

Directors:
Well, they are the ones who show up at the meetings I suppose that's the price ya pay. :youcrazy:

You are well-named, pennypincher. I agree that the annual dues are a bit high if all you are getting out of it is the mag alone--however, there is alot more to it than pretty cover pics. There have been numerous great articles in the mag over the past few years. The fact that some folks [me included] never get to Friendship is our own fault. I belong to several organizations whose dues outweigh the benefits I personally get out of them. Of these, NMLRA is the least 'offensive' in that respect...I look forward to the mag each month and generally am not disappointed in it.

If you enjoy the magazine that is great, I recently TRASH 15 Years worth of back issues of Muzzle Blast saving about 10 articles that I tough I might want to re read someday, or use as a how too reference.

The magazine at times is a bit boring, and very repetitive. Sorry but imho this Forum offers more information about muzzleloading, bp shoot, how toos, etc. than the BLAST does imho.

You are right I do watch my money, and am some what CHEAP, but I will spend dollar if value is received.

I personally do not think Muzzle Blast or NMLRA Membership is worth $40.00/year to those who do not visit Friendship.

Also the NMLRA’s National Shoots (ie PHX) are VERY EXPENSIVE to participate in from my prospective, as I see more value in a CLUB Shoot that have a Few Prizes offered, verses a $3.50 shooting medal offered by the NMLRA.

I have not been into collecting trophies, medals, or merit badges since I was a kid. All that stuff got thrown out several years ago when i moved.

Prizes of value like a Can of BP, Horn, Shootin Box, or Rifle make me want to sign up and compete and try and win a prize of value.

:v Pennypincher I agree with you wholeheartedly as the NMLRA is in reality no longer a National organization as it has exactly zero political clout. If you live within 4-600 miles of Friendship, it may be worthwhile as you have in all reality a private regional club, The cost of attending matches held there is not exactly cheap but it isn't cheap going to Camp Perry for the NRA National Shoots or Muncie Indiana for the AMA NATS model airplane contests either. The perceived worth of the membership fee is not mollified by the Magazine which is as you say a basically boring magazine, with repetitious articles. The NMLRA's biggest loss was when they went over to the Dark Side and started pandering "In-Lines" and featuring them at the National shoots. But frankly all of this said it is still our organization as the NRA could give a wee rat's a$$ about B.P. and their magazine the American Rifleman is about the most worthless piece of trash, it makes the Muzzle Blast seem like a quality reading magazine, it (Rifleman)doesn't last more than the 30 minutes I waste going through it's pages. However that also being said when we are threatened by all those on the Dark Side of the guns issue, the NRA gets out their oak fence posts and goes looking to bash heads---the NMLRA BOD runs for the bathroom looking for the Pepto Bismol. Just check the member numbers in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania and that's the reason the NMLRA is still around. Their will unfortunately come a day when the NMLRA will close it's doors and then watch the muzzleloaders and black powder eater's start to moan and grown. So with all of it's warts and problems if you think there are problems, get active and pitch in---"curse not the darkness, yet light thee a candle and celebrate the light...."

Great info, the "prez" said he's now retired and hitting different places so call that # and he'll get back to you, as he did rabbit. Do you how many times the gang of 30 can be relected??? I dont have a by laws in front of me, I did find a bunch was changed about 1999 or 2000 last night under club news. :shake: Fred :hatsoff:

Well I do not think the NMLRA has TERM LIMITS of BOD Members. :nono:

I am sure the Pres. if you are talking Pres. will selectivly get back to people. Hell I sent him an e-mail about the Western Shoot a week or so ago, and it was also sent to the other 30 Director who have e-mail.

No one answer me... LOL. Same old :bull:

As I am unable to edit the post a above, so I am giving you all e-mail addresses of the 30 Members of the NMLRA’s BOD who have e-mail. Not that the Entire Executive Committee, like Pres., VP’s, Secretary, etc. is included.

For those of you who wish to let the 30 Directors of the NMLRA know how you feel about the NMLRA. What you feel needs to be changed, why you quite being a members, dues/shoot prices, what you like, what you dislike, gripes or praises about the NMLRA etc.

Take a few minutes and compose an e-mail, and send it to the entire list of NMLRA Directors who e-mail are below.

Can not promise you anything will change or happen. But at least you have let them know how your feel.

Experience is needed on a Board of Directors of any Group, or Corporation. ButTerm limits get NEW BLOOD in the Mix.

But 30 director is about 18, to 22 TOO MANY for any group, as with 30 Directors I see no fast changes.

Last I will say many Billion dollar corporations run just fine with a BOD, of under 12 Smart People.

I wonder what some of the people qualifications are to be on the NMLRA BOD beside they being long term members of the NMLRA.

Anyone know what the BUSINESS Experience of the current 30 BOD Members are?

I know one is a Machinist/Preacher, one is a Tool and Die Maker, one is I believe a Probation Officer, but the other 27 I have Zero idea as to what experience they have from running a business. :(
