I was just up in upstate New York this past week visiting family before I go to Iraq. We went out to dinner and after the meal I was going to my truck and a lady met me there with a note in her hand. I though "great, she dented my door and was just about to leave me a note". She was actually the secretary for the Old Saratoga Muzzleloader Club and she saw my license plate and my forum bumper sticker and she was leaving me a note inviting me to a shoot. Unfortunately, I was leaving the next day and I had no muzzleloaders with me anyway. It's nice to see we are all over the place and willing to reach out to fellow muzzleloaders and welcome them to their shoots.

Similar thing happened at the range a couple weeks ago. I overheard a couple gentleman who where shooting muzzleloaders comment on my powder charge, apparently it was a bit more boom than they thought was needed. I talked to one of them and explained my rifle shoots best with a heavy charge. He asked if I was shooting sabots. Of course I said no and I was shooting roundball. I told him I cast my own ball and make my own lube and such. Well, he warmed up to me and invited me to their club for some shoots.

It sure is a nice sport to be invovled in.

The blackpowder crowd is the friendliest shooting fraternity in the world.

Be safe in the sandbox.

When do you leave for the sandbox, more importantly when are you do back? Keep your head down and move quickly.

I leave May 11th for a 120+ day tour in southern Iraq.
I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.

Keep your head down, and a fully loaded mag. handy. Stay safe, and come home the same way you left. Take care, and good luck.

I sure will try. four plus months without shooting will drive me nuts so hopefully I can access the forum to maintain some sanity.

I truly hope you don't have the "Need" to do any shooting for the four months. Be safe and as they say "Aim small, Hit small". Tinderbox

"I was that which others cared not to be. I went where others feared to go And did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing. And, reluctantly, accepted the thought of eternal loneliness - should I fail. I have seen the face of terror, felt the chill of fear, warmed to the touch of love. I have hoped, pained, cried. But, foremost, lived in times others would say best forgotten. At the very least, in later days, I will be able to say with greatest pride, That I was indeed, a Soldier".
