Didn't always agree with him but he was a good spirit who encouraged traditional muzzleloading and I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

That speaks volumes.I feel exactly the same way. Doesn't matter if I agreed with Paul or not; he was a gentleman and a passionate advocate of our hobby. R.I.P.

We will all miss Paul. I had noticed he had not made any post for a while and was wondering why.

That is sad news. He'd been a long time member here and will be missed.
His posts were always detailed and informative.
RIP Sir.. :hatsoff:

Must have been a great man and friend to have so many who never met him morn his passing, with any luck I'll meet him at the Big Rondy one day.
This was sent to me from a good friend,,I believe there is a message in it for all of us,,if not Claude can take it down.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
One day I had lunch with some friends. Jim, a short, balding golfer type about 80 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch.

When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Jim who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.

I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie," Jim added, completely unabashed.

We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time... But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine.

I couldn't take my eyes off Jim as his pie a-la-mode went down. The other guys couldn't believe it. They ate their lunches silently and grinned.

The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Jim. I lunched on white meat tuna. He ordered a parfait.
I smiled. He asked if he amused me I answered, "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me.

How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible? He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is possible.
I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good.

This year I realized how old I was. (He grinned) I haven't been this old before."
"So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored. I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many trout streams I haven't fished. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead.

There are too many golf courses I haven't played. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes.

I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace.

I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most.

I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind on my face. I want to be in love again.

So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired."

With that, I called the waitress over... "I've changed my mind,” I said. "I want what he is having, only add some more whipped cream!"

I will miss his long posts, His picture looks like I thought he would look like though I have never met the man. Rest in Peace Paul V. You will be missed.

Paul always took the time to share indepth his knowledge and expertise. His helpful attitude will be missed. :hatsoff:

You take a week off(due to comp issues). And come back to this. I will also miss his posts. I never met him personally, but he seemed like a nice fella. I also agree that if your time has been called, it was nice to be going while doing something you love. All condolences to his family, and close friends.

Prayers out to him and his family.

Paul, was instrumental in providing me information on Illinois gun laws. I still have a great conversation saved from him in my inbox.

He was instrumental in battling Illinois gun laws.

He certainly was willing to share with folks here. I believe he was truly passionate about muzzleloaders, and he was a stickler for safety.
I am saddened to hear of his passing.
If anyone has access to an obituary, please put up a link.

I hope it's long as one would expect from him. I liked reading the friendly jabs about his lengthy replies on what should have been short answers.

I did not know the man, but from the out pouring of comments here I am sad that we never crossed paths. Another reminder of how short life really is.

This is terrible news! Paul was one of the people who heartilly welcommed me when I was new on this forum. We shared some PM which made me feel very welcome. I remember how he explained that he once visited Belgium, and that his ancesters originated from a place in Flanders nearby where I live. I received some very valuable information from him and always read his posts. He had serious knowledge that he shared freely. I am gratefull for this gift and sad that I never got to know him personally. He is leaving us much to soon and will be really missed. Goodby Paul, rest in peace!
Me also. There were those that hounded him mercilessly when I first joined, and he fought back valiantly. THey would say nasty things, and call him names, and he just kept on keeping on. I PM'd him many times with questions, and he would answer with much more information than I wanted, but I learned a lot from him and still have those PM's saved. THat way his enemies could not include me in their attacks.
I, too, will miss him.

It is sad news to hear that Mr. V went under. I too have benefited greatly from his knowledge and experiments with muzzleloading guns. Hats off to you Paul :hatsoff: and good hunting.
