150 rounds in a bag? Wow, even at .45 caliber that's some serious weight! Crazy! I might carry 20 or so if I figure I'm gonna shoot a lot! Man, y'all is stronger than I am!! I take about 10-12 out with me, .570 balls! That's aplenty for me! Maybe 15 if I'm out shooting for an hour or two, with my .50! 150? That's a lot!!

I keep all of mine stocked and ready to go. Not too worried about them getting damaged. I do lots of leather work so if a strap breaks I will just add a new one. Further damage and I'll just turn it into something else and make a new one. I have to keep them loaded otherwise I would never find all my stuff when I need it.

Yep , its full and ready. Bought it at a rendezvous at Piqua Ohio in the late 90s. Just got a new strap to put on itb. This'll be the third strap but the leather pouch is still good .

Nice looking kit but I'm really liking that door.

I tend to move my stuff around, so no, I don’t leave them in the bag. I have a large old craftsman toolbox that I keep all of my stuff in. When I’m done hunting, everything goes back in the toolbox where I can find it. This keeps me from the inevitable “shoot, it’s in my other bag” and instead I can say “shoot, I left it in the toolbox”….

The toolbox is a great idea. I may try that for the extra stuff. Right now I keep a different bag for each caliber in .36, .40, .45, and .50. keeps me from mixing my stuff up.

That's what I do too. The .32 doesn't have a shooting pouch since I can fit 50 balls and patches, an extra flint, coin turnscrew, .30 Carbine shell case powder measure, several cleaning patches, and a vent pick in a Copenhagen can and stick it in my back pocket.

No, it's stocked and ready to go,, but I never hang it,, it's laid flat, in it's place where it belongs, I don't want to stress the strap. It's the weakest part.
Causes undue stress to the leather, the whole thing, all of it.
Besides, why do I have to show it off hanging on a wall for everyone to see?
None of their business that I even have a bag.
(ever wonder why you don't see a lot of antique bags with intact straps?)

If I had a place to hang my bags I would, and will someday. But currently they lay in a largish MTM plastic box with the rest of my range stuff. It borders on too heavy but is workable and makes it hard to forget something I, or another shooter, might need at a shoot. While I have a few balls thrown in the bottom of the bag I usually use a separate ball bag that hangs from its' own strap on my left (horn and shooting pouch on right).

Yeah, I guess that is a lot, but I shoot a lot, at least when it ain’t so hot and humid. I’ll probably shoot at least 40 rounds or more in a practice session. Obviously not that many hunting. I’ve been pouring some round balls lately and got a little carried away. Normally I keep about 50 or so in the bags with more in peanut butter jars at home.

The only thing in my flintlock bag besides rounds balls are a small flint wallet with flints and a few small tools, a rag and some wadding. Just the basics for shooting.

I tend to hang it empty. So when I need to use it I pack what I need and make no bad assumption about whether I restocked it properly. This makes more sense to me because I use it for two different caliber rifles and a shotgun.
I only use the bag for hunting, along with a small, 6 inch horn. If going to the range or a dove shoot, I take the range box and full size, storage horn.

Dont have a shoulder bag, mine is a English fowler's pouch, on the belt.
Always full. The only horn that does not have powder in it is an 1850 pan horn Ive had for many decades. It sits above the doorway.

My possibles bag hangs over the back of a chair, all food item removed except for salt & pepper, a tin cup, my flint & steel, etc.

My shot pouches hang on nails, filled & ready to go out for a day of shooting with their respective trade guns or rifle.

No! Just a knife and cleaning patches. I always fill the bag for whatever rifle I am going to shoot. I don't like unnecessary items. Caps & nipple wrenches don't go with flintlocks etc.

My smooth bore bag has close to 150 round balls of .600 caliber in it right now. I need to take it upon the mountain and get rid of some.

My rifle bag also has about 150 in it also.

If the bags won’t hold up to this, I don’t need them.

It ain’t all that much. A couple pounds maybe. 95 round balls will only last a couple sessions or three. Perhaps it is a mindset from a career in military/government work that I like to have plenty of ammunition with me.
