I appreciate the come-back. I might just try making one after I finish all my other projects!

Hey Pitchy your back, I thought you were on tour on the bike!

Darn winter won`t let loose, rode last Friday then got a snow storm and another coming tomorrow.
Got new rubber on the bike and all spruced up and ready. I`ve been fighting some health issues for a while too but i think i have it whooped now.
Thanks for asking. :)

Great looking work Davy. :hatsoff:

I can't wait to see that big bowie finished up. What kind of plans do have for it? What handle material, and such...

Well here is the Bowie with a very unfinished & incomplete handle & guard loosely applied for show. It is African Ebony wood, and if done as I planned will have nickle silver applied as well.

BTW here is the smaller knife with darkened blade on its way to being done. :hatsoff:

Davy :hmm:

Davy, that's great the Bowie looks like its ready to grab up and the guttin begin! Man I would hate to be on the recieving end of that. I like the materials and the shape of the handle.
OK so what did you use to darken the blade of the skinner? It looked good before but dang, I reaaly like that now.

Here is my conceptual drawing of the Bowie I came up with ... hope it turns out somewhat like this in the end! :hmm:

The smaller skinner blade was blued with Birchwood Casey Perma Blue, next I will clean it with steel wool, then apply bleach, sand wet with 400 wet/dry sandpaper. Then oil.

I've got to echo all the other comments Davy, You should be very proud of your work. That skinner turned out great, love the grain in the blade. It's got that LOOK to it. I can't wait to see the bowie when you get it done.
