Well boys ... here some stuff to critique ...

Ok here are three knives I am currently working on ... sending them off to be heat treated by one of our experts here! :thumbsup:

Please tell me what you think ... these are my first trys .. so I know they are not perfect. :hmm:

Something about the middle ones tip looks off to my eye. The other 2 are perfect! I gotta agree with brett sr, that littlest one on the bottom is really neat. :thumbsup:

Very nice Davy! It's very hard to tell from the angle given, but the big bowie with the hidden tang looks (according to the photo only) as though the tang itself is canted up toward the back of the blade and I wondered if this is going to work for the handle design you have in mind? The only reason I question this is because you are sending this knife out for heat treatment, and if this tang is hardened in any way it could make it difficult to correct downward without reheating it and bending it, as it might be better to correct this before heat treating than after. Again it could be a distortion of the photo that makes it look that way, and also I would never discount that this was intended for a handle design you have, but most knives of this design have either a very straight, or down canted handle flow, but I like the blades very much. I like 'em. The middle one could have the clip moved back some. The tip looks too short to my eye. I want to see that big bowie when ya get it finished. :thumbsup:

buffed well enough ta see ya in yer dust mask in the background lol, THEY ALL LOOK GOOD, like the rest I like that little one, but the middle one is growing on me quick---yep like that one too!!!Definately got to see em when yer done. Been thinking on getting a bigger bowie style fer awhile now, ya just might a pushed me over the edge :thumbsup: what ya intending to use fer the handles? YMHS Birdman

Thanx for the input guys ... have whole alot to learn still in this stuff. Luckily I have had some great advice so far from many here like Wick Ellerbee & others! :thumbsup:

I am planning on using ebony wood for the Bowie handle & the plainsmans butcher (middle one), and have some bone possibly or some beautimous burl wood for the smaller one thanx to Pitchy. We will see! :hmm: :thumbsup:

Actually, Davy, that middle one is almost identical to an original knife in the Panhandle Plains Museum at Canyon, TX. It represents a design that was documented to West Texas about 1870.

If I can find a video card for my old computer and get it back up running I have a picture of it.
