Does the bore measure .69 more or less?
I wasnt going to try and shoot it. Thank you for your informationIt is neither a Westley Richards, nor a muzzleloader, but a common Belgian breechloader sold under the name 'W. Richards', to take advantage of the better known and better quality British maker's reputation. The buttstock is a replacement, at least one of the hammers is a replacement, and overall, the gun is in such condition as to make shooting it likely unsafe. Best seen as a relic and wallhanger.

That's .6875 and close enough to .690 to be a 14ga.The far end measures about 11/16th
Hi I dont plan on selling it. Was just curious if it had any value??I don't know a re-sell value of the gun. I do know that my grandfather's guns that I own could not be bought at any price from me. Even though the re-sell value would be small.
Don't worry about the worth, and enjoy holding something that your grandfather enjoyed shooting. Keep and hand down to your children.
All the value is as a family heirloom. I’ve seen them on tables at gun shows not selling at $50.Hi I dont plan on selling it. Was just curious if it had any value??
It is neither a Westley Richards, nor a muzzleloader
7.62x54r Silver Tip?All the value is as a family heirloom. I’ve seen them on tables at gun shows not selling at $50.
Below is a photograph of one of your gun’s cousins, though it’s a 12 gauge. Believe I also have a 16 gauge. Debated giving the barrels a haircut and bolting to a wall as a decoration, but never did alter them.
If that was my grandpa’s gun, I’d gently clean it, maybe remove the piece of rubber intertube from the stock and prominently display it. It obviously has been used hard by your grandpa and has earned a rest. If you must shoot it, find someone who knows what they are doing with these old guns and follow their advice. I’ve seen them with internal lock parts repaired with braze and or weld, just waiting to break again.
