It is neither a Westley Richards, nor a muzzleloader, but a common Belgian breechloader sold under the name 'W. Richards', to take advantage of the better known and better quality British maker's reputation. The buttstock is a replacement, at least one of the hammers is a replacement, and overall, the gun is in such condition as to make shooting it likely unsafe. Best seen as a relic and wallhanger.

I wasnt going to try and shoot it. Thank you for your information

I don't know a re-sell value of the gun. I do know that my grandfather's guns that I own could not be bought at any price from me. Even though the re-sell value would be small.
Don't worry about the worth, and enjoy holding something that your grandfather enjoyed shooting. Keep and hand down to your children.

Hi I dont plan on selling it. Was just curious if it had any value??

I'm glad that you are maintaining the family history . Yes the gun has little commercial value, but to your family it is irreplaceable. Please write up any history you can find about your family's usage and keep it with this heirloom for future generations. If you have an old hunting photo of your grandfather carrying this gun it is even better! ( I have a photo of my wife's grandfather hunting with his gun as well as her father with his deer rifle ... both guns have now been passed along to my daughter )

All the value is as a family heirloom. I’ve seen them on tables at gun shows not selling at $50.

Below is a photograph of one of your gun’s cousins, though it’s a 12 gauge. Believe I also have a 16 gauge. Debated giving the barrels a haircut and bolting to a wall as a decoration, but never did alter them.

If that was my grandpa’s gun, I’d gently clean it, maybe remove the piece of rubber intertube from the stock and prominently display it. It obviously has been used hard by your grandpa and has earned a rest. If you must shoot it, find someone who knows what they are doing with these old guns and follow their advice. I’ve seen them with internal lock parts repaired with braze and or weld, just waiting to break again.

7.62x54r Silver Tip?

It's a 16... mostly clay. I do shoot game, but not used the ML for driven as it seems a bit presumptious!

I was at Cluny on the 14th! Didn't register there was an MLAGB event there on the 20th..! Need to pay more attention! I used to go to the event when it first started at Leuchers, but dropped out mainly because of the cost. I am a member at Cluny (as well as the MLAGB), so I will watch for this in the future!
