What I did has to cover days. Fell off the kitchen porch last Wed evening onto a stone patio. Concussion, bruised ribs front and back, knees hurt, swelling. In the ER til 0400 Thurs and in the observation unit in the hospital til 1600 Thursday. Doc just ok'd me to drive and use screens. But still hurt and am stiff. Spent the best part of the last six days horizontal.

Just follow orders and take it slow. Keep repeating " there's nothing like shooting black powder' "there's nothing
like shooting black powder" Hell I feel better already hope it helps you. I was taught a technique to releave pain.
Sit relaxed, clear your mind think of only one thing, control your breathing , your heart rate will drop, close your eyes,
and after 5 min. or so open your eyes slowly. And your pain will be less or no pain at all. It has helped me with
the 2 hip surgeries I've had. I was taught this while in the military To me it would be better than being buzzed up
with pain killers

BOB , I spent 16 weeks at San Diego and no it was not for boot camp, had a M.O.S. change and that is where the school was, second tour for four. Proud graduate of the alumni of Parris Island, Plt. 271 second battalion, 1974, One day after I graduated high school and my ass was in the play ground of the gods. I knew a few Women Marines and have nothing but respect, before I was married one of the regular gang was a W.M. stayed friends for years. Then lost contact. The Corps is changing but it will always be there in times of need. Rest easy AMERICA the MARINES are on guard duty.

I have a strict limit on opioid pain killers. I'll take one (1) after waking up from surgery or similar. Then plain Tylenol. Hope I never experience anything that makes me change that.
Thanks for your suggestions gunnyr. They help!

In September of 2009 I was heading to a jobsite in Western Maryland and blacked out behind the wheel. Lisinopril was the cause. Anyway I left the road and hit a rock embankment head on @65 mph (According to GPS). I was wearing my seatbelt and the airbag deployed. Even with that I broke my neck (C2), my sternum, cracked two ribs and multiple contusions and abrasions. I am very fortunate to have survived. At the very least I should have been a quadriplegic. I had a fine surgeon, one of the best in the state and he put Humpty Dumpty back together again. After surgery and after leaving the hospital I was eating percocets like candy. The pain died down to the point where Ibuprofen would work. I dumped the rest of the percocets in the toilet.

Both knees in January, only used pain killers for therapy. That's over, they're gone! Two Tylenol at night before bed. Danced with my wife at a wedding over the weekend. Oh and I'm riding my motorcycle this week!

Well, so far I put another coat of Tru-oil on my J. Armstrong stock. Then I emptied the last two drawers of my wife's (now passed) clothes. That was tough. Washed a load of clothes then put them in the dryer. Have a load of sheets & pillowcases in the washer now. Then it will be folding everything and putting them away. I went to the local butcher shop yesterday. They raise and butcher their own beef. Their pork and chicken comes directly from farmers just north of me in PA. So, now I'm going to the kitchen to package all that up and put it in the freezer.

Sorry for your kids brother. Sounds like you're close to where I am (Harford Cnty) I get most of my fresh cuts from Amish country. Just the best! Where do you shoot at? I go to Elkton. It's nice but a bit of a drive.

That was my wife that I mentioned. It's been tough. I'm out here in Washington county. Hagerstown. I used to shoot out at the North American Rod and Gun club. Beautifly .manicured pistol and rifle range(s). A real nice club house that serves good food and a bar too. The reason I don't go there anymore is that all to often they are having pistol, skeet & rifle shoots and the ranges are closed to paying members. So after five years of that I just didn't renew my membership. I'm now preparing to join the Isaac Walton league gun club in Clear Spring, MD.

I guess I don't vibrate correctly to find Opioids very addictive and I have an extremely high pain tolerance. I don't even like taking NSAIDS but I've taken Oxycodone/Percocets 'like candy' like Pooch above twice in the last 10 years. Once when I blew myself up and had 3rd degree burns over 11% of my body (including and most miserably all the fingers of my right hand). That was Oxycodone every few hours for weeks right there baby. From the time I was burned to the time I made it to the hospital and had some pain relief was 2 hours so I've had the full experience of that level of pain and there's no toughing that out. That's a 100 on a scale of 0-100. Something like being flayed alive while having a pounding migraine. The second time was this past June 1st when I had my RALP surgery. Oxycodone for three days. I might have made it with Tylenol after 24 hours but the memory of the burn was still stinging so I ate them all like candy.....

Sorry, auto correct got me.
I wrote "Sorry for your loss" and apparently autocorrect overrode me.
Elkton just spent a ton of money on the range, it looks great. It attracts alot of kids with ARs killing 8-1/2 X12" targets at 25'
I love it when they come over to my lane and ask if I can "really hit that target out at 100 yards?"
Yup, I absolutely can!

THAT would be one of those experiences I hope never to have. I am sorry you did.

I went and visited Fort Ticonderoga today, great place. Anyone with the ability should check it out. Great demonstration of musket and cannon live fire. The employees are in period clothing, and most were very knowledgeable of history of the fort. Worth the trip
