I ordered a full stock Hawken flintlock kit from TOTW around the middle of May. When I ordered the computer invoice said everything was in stock. It was about 3 weeks when I received everything but the stock. The stock (plain maple) was back ordered :( that was May 31st. I have emailed TOTW, no response yet. All of the metal work has been done on the gun for about a month now and I was kinda of curious how long I can expect to wait on something like this? :(

Anyone have any experience in these sorta things?

Joe

Been here doing this too! Ordered Bivins style longstock maple m3 "C" profile on June 1st. Got the rest of my order in a very timely manner. Stock has not shown yet. Not ready for it as I am still builing the rest of my parts. I'm just a bit like a kid at Christmas time, wishing it would come tomorrow! Maybe good thing it is not here, I can't start buggerin' it up and making fancy and expensive firewood

Maybe they are growing a maple tree from seed and making a special order for us?? :snore: Hope not :nono:

I waited nine months on their catalog and recieved no reply to emails about it. Since then I've had no problems.

I have had no problems ordering and receiving things from Track.Maybe a phone call might clear thing up a bit.

I agree, I would give them a call on Monday and ask what's going on.
It's probably their supplier is having some problems, but they should give you a ship date

I ALWAYS verify that what I want is in stock BEFORE I order from them ... based on a warning from someone else ... and to date I have never been disappointed because of doing this!

Well, this is not incouraging at all :shake: I actually went with TOTW because I "thought" they had everything in stock and I didn't want to wait 6 weeks for a Leman kit from Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading. When a guy lays out over $600 for something he expects to receive it in a resonalble amount of time. I can be resonable with them, but 3 months is :bull: and does not set too well with me. I think I will be looking else where to send my $XXX's or $X,XXX's to.

When I order from TOW I request verification on each part as being in stock. Have had no difficulty w/ TOW since doing this, but of course I don't order wood from them. The problem w/ the precarves is that they should be cut shortly before shipping otherwise warpage will occur. TOW or any other supplier can't inventory precarves for any length of time because of warpage and must depend on current production from the duplicators and their schedule......Fred

Joe, Call Track and get the status. They get most of their stocks from Pecatonica. Have them tell you what the status is. Since they have your money, they should at least let you know the status. Normal wait for a stock from Dick at Pecatonica is four to six weeks. I'm gonna bet He's filling a large order for them and is gonna bulk ship. They might just have him ship it to you. Bill

If the website said it was in stock, not very long at all. So far if their website said they had it, I got it < 7 days.

The suprizing thing was having to wait (knew it) for barrel staples. How do you run out of those things?

The last parts set I ordered from Tracks, 6 mo. later I was still waiting on a barrel & a lock & the time to build the mans rifle was here..... I cancelled the order with Tracks, called Tip Curtis Frontier Shop & had the parts in 2 days for the same price & built the rifle.
That was the last parts set I will get from TOW. When I place that order & if they are even close to being out of components, I expect them to tell me so at That Time, so I know & can make other arrangements. If everyone else can do it, so can they......
If I were you I would call Pecatonica or Tip or MBS & see if they have it in stock & if so,cancel the Tracks order & get another stock & get on with it.....

I've had nothing but excellent service from TOW. Never any problems, if their website shows something in stock and I click the add to cart it's at my shop in 3 days.

I think their website is in real time. I bought a #4 maple Lancaster and must have bought the last one they had in stock. It showed in stock until I hit add to cart, then showed them as out of stock.

I'd call or e-mail Linda. She's their shipping manager and has answered any of my question very quickly. Here's her phone and direct e-mail address. 763-633-2500 or [email protected]

ayup- been there done that... i wouldn't be surprised if the folks at Pecatonica are making your stock for the folks at Track. i had them make me up a really nice southern mountain stock and it did take a while, but was worth the wait. i was also caught in the barrel staple deal- i called them and they were duly apologetic- it seems that these gadgets can only be had in hundred pound lots or somesuch- go figure.

at any rate, give 'em a call. at least they'll know you have concerns, and you'll have a handle as to wheat the problem might be.

I too use Davey and Fred's method of calling first. Another thing if you can't call is to click the "do not back order" box on the online order form. You get an email saying the order was cancelled.

By all means, give'em a call. Anything is possible, and at the least, they can tell you when they expect the item to arrive there.

I get a lot of stuff from Track and always have. But, I never order over the wire. I always call up there and get one of the counter guys and make them hand run every dang little part or explain why. Then I give them the plastic wampum and I get the package within a week. That way I know the score before I turn loose of the jingle.

Do as ye will, but if'n it were me, I'd be all over them like a dirty shirt at the opening bell on Monday morning! I'm a business man and I dont leave my customers hanging for months when they have paid good money. I wouldnt let them do it either.

Ive only got 4 things from TOTW and I called it in, they dont answer Es all that offten (unless you got something they want , then they can be really fast :rotf: ) Call em and stay on them if you dont want a long wait, what flehto + Bill of the 45 is right. Fred :hatsoff:

I received a response from my email to TOTW. Dave reported my stock will be shipped from the manufacturer in early August. So, I recon I still have a 2 to 3 week wait. I generally keep after a project until it is completed. It has been so long since I started the rifle my enthusiasm has waned. :(

I like TotW a lot, but they are bad about back orders. I call them and make them lay hands on things before I will give the order to be sure that it really goes out. This has been my only rough spot in dealing with them and I will not risk any more errors.

Have your other parts arrived? If not, I would call them and start talking cancellation of the order if something does not happen soon. Maybe you will get a cheap upgrade in wood quality.
